He made $6.7M last year... so going to go out on a limb and say $7.5M.
Would be nice addition for Canes, and little risk on one-year deal.
Could see lines like:
Jokinen - Staal - Semin
Ruutu - Staal - Skinner
or
Ruutu/Semin/Jokinen - Staal - Staal
Semin/Ruutu/Jokinen - Jokinen/Ruutu - Skinner

Hurricanes had like $20M in cap space so $ wasn't really an issue.
Excited to see what he can do with the Staals.
That's a lot of money, but if they've got the cash to spend a one year deal is about as low-risk as it gets.
From a Jets perspective this is bad news. The Canes were already looking a lot better with J. Staal on board. Add Semin to that mix and it makes the Southeast division that much more difficult.
Yep - they added a phenomenal two-way center who should be good for at least 60+ points IMO, and a former 40-goal scorer who I fully expect to put up 65+ points (and wouldn't bet against 70+ - could hit 80 playing with one/two of the Staals).Originally Posted by CascadeFilly
