It's not much a question of Kreider being proven or not, any GM worth anything knows he is going to be an impact power forward in this league, think Max Pacioretty if he has the same work ethic. It's that he's the pill you have to swallow to get a CURRENT killer power forward like Nash, who is still young in his own right - Nash now even at his salary is worth losing Kreider over, especially since the Rangers are in win now mode for the next 2-3 years minimum when Lundqvist is peaking.

But if you don't include someone of that calibur/upside, no way this deal gets anywhere close to done w/o Kreider's name being thrown back into the discussion, and that's a HUGE no-no.

Why? If I'm getting a package of Kreider plus DelZotto, and taking on Dubinsky (who despite his salary is going to be a solid addition in Columbus), why would they need a pick? Especially given that even a 1st rounder is at best going to be a 20-30th overall pick.

I don't disagree at all, but might add most of us were saying something right along these lines last summer.

As for the Nash sweepstakes...I just don't see CLB in desperate need of MDZ, they need skill and speed on the wing. I will go out on a limb with a few others [and risk ridicule] and say the RAGS finally agree to include Kreider, Dubinsky a 1st in 2013 and a 2nd in 2014.

Erixon will fit in really nicely in Columbus. That was a coup by Sather, a huge coup, when they snagged him from the Flames, especially now that he's a component of a trade to bring in Nash.

I need the 4th piece of the deal to be Wade Redden. So far, no complaints about dealing a 1st rounder, 2nd/3rd liner and a player NY acquired for a second round pick last year.

I agreed with everything up to this point. Nash for another 4-5 years at his current production is not worth Kreider's future 10 year upside, imo. Remember, for all the skill Nash has, he doesn't make anyone around him better. You gotta take that into account when you're sending a balls-to-the-wall deal for a guy.
