    Default CBC article: Labour Dispute

Another article from a player's perspective on the labour dispute.

This one does not give the sense of optimism at all. Might need to brush up on my poker skills for next season...

I think the NHL is just playing a super hard line to get the true split that they want, 50/50. That'd be a significant enough haircut to change things for the owners.

Yea, no way in hell do they expect to get what they've demanded and they know that. They just figure that if they lowball enough the eventual middle ground they reach will be a little more like what they want. Assuming they want a 50-50 split what good would it do to approach the players asking for just that? It would end up being 54-46 in favor of the players.

Though the logic of that makes sense, that can also be a negotiating problem.

If you come out super low-balling, you risk the bad press and delay the overall negotiating process.

For me, last CBA I was more on the owner's side. With the PR and the franchises in trouble.

Now, knowing how much the cap has risen and how much money is out there for the teams and seeing how the owners and the GM's are throwing money everywhere, I can't help but not be on their side.

Plus, the come out low-balling like a mofo.

The player's seem to be getting screwed here, imo.

As it's been said many times, tough to feel sorry for either side. I do remember people thinking the players got screwed last CBA and look at how that turned out. We, the fans, are the only losers during this.
We get one of these - Don't waste it.

Yes sir, the fans nearly always lose in situations like this...
