Default Where does Weber play next season...

Would've loved to have added this poll to the other thread, but it's a simple question, two choices, where does Weber play next season (assuming no season ending lockout)- Philly or Nashville?

A lot of great discussion in the other thread.
    http://forums.dobbersports.com/showthread.php?t=136228

EDIT: based on CBA rules he can ONLY play in Philly or Nashville next season; ONLY ONE OR THE OTHER!
... But he could be traded the season after that.

I really think this is a way for the Preds to hit the reset button on there team and retool it... It is not like that do not have enough defensive prospects to fill in with ellis josi and blum... I do realize that not a single one will ever be close to what weber is but that is a damn nice 3 some... I just do not think that the Preds can stomach 26 mil for the first year... I think that is way to much for them

I can see him playing in Nsh for 1 year and then a trade where they get a better return than 4 late 1st round picks.

If this is the case then I'd expect the Preds to announce they matched it within days assuming they have the funds. If you don't hear anything within days then be nervous if you're a Preds fan.

cant be Edmonton .... if the Preds match he cant be traded for a year. Philly isnt gonna sign him to an offer sheet and then turn around and trade him to Edmonton.

I wish there was a big banner posted somewhere so that everyone can finally put it to rest that Weber will end up anywhere but Nashville or Philly next season lol.

I'm going with Nashville but obviously I don't know what is going on behind the scenes right now.

Yeah, I was thinking of rehashing that in the original post, but decided to just link the other thread... I guess it was a lot to re-read. I'll fix it.

Voting is closer than I thought; I feel pretty confident that Nashville will match.

That would be pointless for nashville... the reason they wouldnt want him is cuz he makes too much... 1/4 of the contract is in the first year... thats the reason the flyers structured it that way was to deter nashville from matching

I just dont see it, Nashville is a smaller market, budget conscious team and this is a front loaded deal. Not too mention they probably dont want to trade him to begin with unless he is really pushing for it. I find it almost incomprehensible that they would pay 27 million up front for one year just to move him the next- especially if he isnt happy there.

It would be ludicrious for Nashville to let this guy go.

Just can't lose the fanbase like this. Not now, not this way. Suter and Weber were the core of your club and you lose Suter for nothing.

Weber? He's a better all around player, can't let him go for nothing.

Phillys poaching here can't be tolerated. Take the pill and swallow it; he's simply too important to your franchise.

I'm thinking that each passing is a stronger and stronger indication that the Predators aren't enamored with the idea of matching.

If they were truly interested in matching offers for either Suter or Weber, they would have already forseen the need to have cash available and would already have it on hand. So I don't believe the delay is a matter of trying to raise money, or figure out if they can afford to match the offer.

I think they've already made the decision that they either can't or won't, and are using the time to try to arrange a more favorable return from the Flyers than the four draft picks, basically trying to use the threat that they might match as leverage to try to get one of Holmgren's centers included in the package.

Poile's a very good GM, too good to have been shopping Weber around unless he already knew that his ownership wasn't prepared to do what he needed to be able to keep his player.

He's been down this road before, having had to dismantle a good team because of off ice considerations, in fact it was Holmgren that wound offering him the best deal for the rights to Timonen and Hartnell the last time he had to do this, so to me I think what we're seeing is history repeating itself.

i think the Flyers played the game to perfection, while the Preds might be able to take the cap hit that's not really the concern, its all the cash upfront, I just don't think they can afford it, while Philly on the other hand is flush with cash and has no such concerns
