Pitkanen is a very frustrating individual.

Alzner will never put up big offensive numbers but he might turn out to be the future mainstay of the washington blueline for the next decade. If he plays with AOs line, the numbers will follow.

Goligoski on the other hand is the last of the offensive blue chippers in the PIT stable. He could slide into the top 4 with Letang, Whitney and Gonchar, but he will be #4 there unless trades happen.

With that said... If you are rebuilding do it. Nothing is worse than having talent on the IR all year. Well maybe having on an offensive d-man go to a team only to have them sign a more talented and higher ticket price d-man in free agency, Mr. Souray.

Lose the headache and roll the dice with the young guns.

I don\'t see the value in this trade for you. Pitkanen has talent and, therefore, the potential to be a very productive fantasy asset. Alzner will be a Regehr type - an excellent shutdown dman that brings virtually nothing to the fantasy table. Goligoski could turn out to be decent, but is only a 3rd or 4th option in Pittsburgh\'s future... and pales in comparison to Pitkanen.

I would pass on this deal and hang onto Pitkanen, as frustrating as he may be. My suggestion on how to handle Pitkanen is to try moving him for a draft pick.
