15 teams, 16 core + 3 rookies protected

My team in sig, just spent this year trading a top team to rebuild a group of young studs.

The other rebuilding team in my league has offered the following:
Stastny
2008 1st round pick (2nd pick, in a weighted lottery)
2010 1st round pick

for

Mueller
vanRiemsdyk
Voracek

How this plays out...

Stastny replaces Mueller at center.
But I lose two nice prospects at wing, for the unknown of these picks.

I considered a counter offer with:

Stastny
Green
2008 1st round pick (2nd pick, in a weighted lottery)
** lottery win = Stamkos, loss equals Filatov

for

Mueller
Voracek
Ballard

but I\'m still unsure... interested in your thoughts.

If you can snag Stastny and Green along with that 1st round pick, then you win. Offer the counter and hope he takes it. I think you are giving up too much if you accept his offer.

i like your counter offer. stastny and mueller should be in the same ballpark. green becomes your second best d. voracek is a little more known than filatov. i would be prepared to give vanriemsdyk if he asks as it would still be a pretty good deal for you.

With Oshie currently listed as a center, I actually need to bring a winger back from him to replace Voracek/van Riemsdyk.

Michalek won\'t come for free, so it will be interesting to see how I can work him into the deal. I think I could get Raymond or Grabner pretty cheap.

Remember, my strategy isn\'t to win this year or next. I\'m looking to compete in 3 years, and make a run at the championship once I think my team is ready.

Is this a case of the best trade is the one I don\'t make,
or should I be going after Stastny/Green hard.

He said he\'ll think about it, but he really wanted JvR in the deal. No kidding.

So if he insists on JvR, I would insist on Michalek.
By the sound of it, most would say it is still a good deal.
