As for projections, I see a quick ascension given that it's only he and Brassard right now at C in Columbus. I see:

    Year 1 - 50-55 pts
    Year 3 - 60-65 pts
    Year 5 - 75-80 pts

Johansen is a stud, but no way in hell I'd take him over Vladdy!

I have Tarasenko on my team and I'd trade him for Johansen in a heartbeat. Just a better offensive player with more upside IMO.

I like the kid a lot but I don't see him hitting 70+ points. I think he'll settle into being a very solid 60-65 point guy, which is awesome, but I just don't see the immense upside that others seem to see.

I have to agree with you here. Tarasenko has a much, much better situation in STL. That would be a deciding factor for me alone.

I don't agree with you here.. Tarasenko is going into a lineup that roles 4 lines regularly.. He is going to play for a coach(Hitchcock) that preaches "defense first".. Tarasenko is going to have to compete with Berglund, Schwartz, McDonald, Backes, Perron, Steen and Oshie for icetime..

Johansen on the other hand is going to receive top line minutes, have free reign on the power play.. Johansen in my mind has the much better situation of the two..

I actually love Johansen's progression.. He scored 120 points(53 goals) in 84 games(including playoffs) in the 2010/11 season, in a tough Western Hockey League as a 18 year old.. He also scored 9 points that same same year in 7 games at the World Junior Championship..

Both these guys will get their points, I just feel that Johansen has the better opportunity to get more..

I agree he doesn't have much to compete with for time, but CLS really doesn't seem to have a clue. Towards the end of the season when they could have given him a slight uptick in ice time, they did the opposite. His pre and post ASB time on ice shows a drop of nearly 2 minutes per game.

Nash also had free reign in columbus, and he has been a perennial letdown.

Johansen is 19 years old.. Ofcourse he is going to slow down in the 2nd half as a 19 year old in his first season as a NHL'er..

It took Nash 6 seasons to get over the 60 point mark.. Nash in 9 seasons has scored over 70 points once, just once.. Johansen outscored Nash in the junior ranks, and thats including the World Junior Championship aswell.. Nash has always been over-rated.. Johansen is actually worth the hype that comes with him..

I'm going to say Johansen will be much better then Rick Nash.. Definitely score 80 or more points before his 10th season..

Yeah I'd be careful giving him an 80 point projection. People throw that number around too much.

If Ryan Johansen ever produced like Rick Nash, we should all be happy. As for the 6 season before 60 points, that isn't really true as he put up 54 points in 54 games in his 3rd season.
