Is this good or bad for Oilers nation?
Is he an offensive or defensive guy? What kinda style of play does he preach?

"I agreed to be part of the process the way it's evolving," were the carefully chosen words from the man who took over coaching the Oilers power play last year and moved it from near worst to near first. The Oilers ended up third at 20.6% after being 27th at 14.5% the year before."
He does one thing right at least.

#- denotes number of years I have kept a player. 2 = I need to trade him this year, (F1) = Franchise Keeper, up to 4 years.
From what I've heard, he doesn't rely on his veterans to do the heavy lifting and isn't afraid to put his young 'uns out there. He also has run both run 'n gun and defensive systems, but seems to be considered an offensive-minded coach.
Those are two aspects that should appeal to fantasy owners.

Hiring from the inside again by bringing back the assistant from a team that's finished around last....this franchise never makes any bold moves. They just bring back the same players, don't make any gutsy trades....and with this mgmt, I don't think they're winning the cup even with two more RNH's.
Krueger... wasn't he George's boss in Seinfeld at one point? :-)

Meh.
That's all I really think. I'm not excited by the signing but I'm not upset by the signing either.
It's just a stepping stone signing.. He will coach the Oilers until they are good enough to bring in a coach that will put them over the top.. Just like Pittsburgh, Chicago, and LA did before they won the Stanley Cup..
Not saying the Oilers will win the cup anytime soon, I just feel they will have to improve soon with all these top picks they have recently acquired..

It is official now
Todd Nelson was 'considered' but that is all we really know. Not sure if he got heavy consideration. The media had Brent Sutter as the favorite until recently but in talking to Sutter he said he did not have any contact with the Oilers (that was before the draft).
Like dyz said it is a Meh hiring but considering the alternatives in the public's eye Sutter(No), Crawford(NO!), Nelson(meh), Dallas Eakin(meh) who else could it have been realistically?
