I was reluctant to trade Dunn because I think he will hit 40+ with 100+ but was I wrong to grab the younger shields? Normally I'd post it here first but this time I just went for it.
I pulled the trigger on a trade last week with a guy in 2nd last place. I needed to free up room for longoria and Crawford so I decided on going after an arm and offered up dillon gee (ww pickup), and Adam Dunn for James shields. It's a 14 team keeper league we keep 8. I drafted Dunn thinking he would rebound which he has but I'm thinking shields can be more consistent and valuable especially as a keeper. What are your guys thoughts?
Y Molina
Goldschmitt
Pedroia
E Andrews
Trumbo
Ian Desmond

Adam jones
J Bruce

Who did you use to pick up after trading away Dunn and Gee? In theory I like the idea of the trade if you think you can offset the loss of power.
I picked up goldschmitt, but once longo is activated I move him to 3rd and trumbo to 1st and use goldschmitt as my utility

Yeah I think you did fine for sure, especially with Trumbo and Goldy kicking around.

Now I know the owner of darvish is shopping him around would something like an anibal Sanchez + garza be a bad idea? Or do I have enough good keepers that losing 2 arms for 1 is not such a good idea?
Agree, you got an Adam Dunn clone in Goldschmidt, so this trade should work out for you. Wouldn't shop Sanchez + Garza for Darvish. Darvish still an unknown, and if you believed the media hype, he was supposed to dominate in the early going and then regress because of the "Texas Heat". So far he's not dominating despite having great stuff.
If you're going to trade Sanchez + Garza, it needs to be for a stud pitcher.
Ok thanks, I'll hold off until I hear of someone better getting shopped around.
I think that was a good trade seeing as what you have coming off the DL, although you lose a bit in the power dept (you gain likely everywhere else). As for the Garza + Sanchez for Yu, I would argue that there isn't much separating Darvish from either one of those guys individually, so you're probably better off keeping the two high quality SPs as opposed to the one with only marginally higher upside (pitching in TEX). I'm actually toying with offering up Dempster and Wandy for Shields before the inevitable regression from both - is that too much to give for Shields (or Lester for that matter)?
