Dman of 2008 class

There is alot of talk about the quality of D-man in this years draft. The latest rankings have the following in the top 20:

3. Drew Doughty
5. ALex Pietrangelo
7. Zach Bogosian
8. Luke Schenn
10. Mikkel Boedker
13. Mattias Tedenby
14. Tyler Myers
16. Colby Robak
19. John Carlson

I was looking to see where Doughty ranked in OHL defense scoring and expected him to be ranked higher than 9th. A guy like Yannick Weber who was drafted in the 3rd round last year is out scoring him.

I don\'tknow too much about the fantasy value of this year d-man and was looking for some help on the value of the above mentioned players.

Trying to prepare for my prospect draft and I need a 60+ Dman bad if there are any available

Please add players if I missed any, only took the top 20.

1) Boedker is a winger, not a D

2) Weber is another D you should be considering, you can probably take some risk and draft him a little later

3) Doughty and Schenn are the most NHL ready, Doughty has the ability to rush the puck, make a tape-2-tape pass coming out of his zone, and a pretty decent point shot. Schenn is a great all-around D, I don\'t think their are any expectations on him to be putting much offense. He will likely be a top pairing D, but not sure he will QB the PP.

4) Pietrangelo may have similiar potential, but likely a year behind w.r.t. seeing time in the NHL.

There are also some D drafted in 2007 that you may want to
look at, if they qualify for / or are available in your draft.
First one that comes to mind is Bobby Sanguetti.

I think doughty is the stand out to be a 60+ point guy... No one else that i can think of will be up in that range unless Pietrangelo goest to pho.

yah from what i have read, whether it be from Bugg or others, they all rave about doughty\'s offense and defensive play. i think that is why he is so good, cuz he is so versatile. Bugg has predicted 60+ pts for him and i would stick to that. Pietrangelo is not as complete as doughty but not too far off. I think his offensive potential is fairly close to doughty\'s, maybe not as high. but it all depends on the team they get drafted to as well. some teams can inflate stats more than others.

when I hear they all rave about doughty\'s offense and defensive play I get reminded of J-Bo.

I\'m first and I have seconds pick asweel.Its lottery style so my chances are most likely a 4th to 6th overall pick. I won\'t get Doughty but is Pietrangelo worth a pick up? Bobby ryan was drafted in the 1st round last year but was dropped as he was sent to the minors. Is Ryan or Brunnstrom a better pick up than Pietrangelo. Keep in mind I really need a good D on my farm. Russell and Kindl just don\'t compare to other GM\'s who have EJ,JJ & Letang.

Some scouts have Pietrangelo ahead of Doughty, and I think his offensive upside matches Doughty, he\'s just not quite the complete player as DD. If he\'s available, I think he\'s worth a shot... but I wouldn\'t count on him playing in the bigs next year.
He may need another year to mature in junior. It really depends how badly the team that drafts him, needs a D.

I\'m looking for a D man to be great in about 3-5 years. My farm is very strong except for D. thx for the advice rumrunner, karma for your efforts.

My team is otherwise stacked. The only keeper i\'m not uber happy about is Horton. He will be replaced with one of Berglund, Giroux or Hensick.

Its funny.. I have the same problem trying to give out karma to people.. one shot and your done for six hours.. I guess its like the real thing right.. :S

I don\'t think you can go wrong with any of Berglund, Giroux and Hensick. I already have 2 of them and wouldn\'t mind landing Berglund in this years draft if he\'s availavle.

I\'m in a slightly different situation... I just dismantled a team that would be in 1st place to rebuild what I hope to be a powerhouse down the road. My team was getting older, able to compete... but a limited future.

Not to mention, all the trading was a lot of fun for a fantasy hockey junkie like myself.

I will when my gun reloads.. haha... I\'m in the second year of my league.. my team average age is 20.. I drafted hensick, and giroux in the draft this year.. I also traded Tlusty, and 18th overall to get berglund this season... But I will hit you up for sure with some karma when it lets me.. don\'t let me forget.. LOL
