In keeper leagues the Hellickson/Alvarez has better long term upside. Depending on how deep your league is would determine if I pull this trade, but yes, Emaus and McGee are struggilng. Emaus won't see much time in Colorado either.
If I'm willing to swap my Michael Young for Pedro Alvarez, I may be able to complete a trade that would also bring me Hellickson and Juan Miranda. My league requires a rookie hitter and rookie batter, which Hellickson and Miranda qualify for. I currently have Emaus and Jake McGee in there - not good. It looks like I would have to give up a decent pitcher (e.g. Myers) and a mediocre bat (i.e. Smoak, Raburn, Figgins).
We're still working out the details, but for me it basically boils down to whether Alvarez is worth the risk at 3B - I think it is, but want some opinions. The deal could look something like this;
Myers, Smoak (or Raburn or Figgins), Young for
Hellickson, Miranda, Alvarez
Last points are we have no waiver wire, and Hellickson qualifies as a 'prospect', meaning I could keep him into next year too on top of my other normal keepers. I know - strange rules.
Sorry for long post.

Keeper League:
F) N.Backstrom, E.Malkin, V.Lecavalier, P.Mueller, A.Mcdonald, B.Boyes, A.Hemsky, S.Horcoff, K.Turris, D.Jeffrey, M.Perreault, C.O'Reilly, S.Upshall, M.Erat, S.Gagne, D.Legwand D) S.Souray, M.Streit, A.Babchuk, T.Gilbert, I.Cole, J.Hillen, M.Methot G) B.Elliott, S.Varlamov, C.Ward, J.Reimer P) N.Kadri, E.Kuznetsov, S.Shirokov, V.Tarasenko, J.Blum, OEL, J.Moore, O.Pavelec
Only 9 teams, but we have no waiver wire, and we start 2 at every infield position and we have deep benches. There are not many teams with 2 useable rookies to trade, which is why I'm trying to get a package of Hellickson with Miranda (in case he wins the starting 1B job, and if not, a few counting stats). Not sure if this helps make up your mind? Agreed it helps for next year, but also wondering about this year. My other 1Bs are Butler and Sanchez.
Our total rosters are 40 players total (2 starters at each IF position, 5 OF, 2 DH (any hitters), 6 SP, 3 RP, 1 Rook hitter, 1 Rook pitcher. No Waivers (midyear draft of 3 players each).
