    Default Gregg picked over Marmol

    from rotoworld (via Chicago Tribune):

Cubs manager Lou Piniella said Sunday that he\'s picked Kevin Gregg over Carlos Marmol as his team\'s closer.
Obviously, we overestimated Piniella in thinking that March wouldn\'t make the difference. Marmol has been the far more effective pitcher than Gregg two years running, and while Gregg does have the experience, he also blew nine saves in 38 chances last season. Marmol has only been charged with three blown saves while collecting eight saves and 46 holds the last two years. He\'s clearly the future for the Cubs. To put that on hold for a mediocrity like Gregg is just a bizarre decision

I agree. Plain dumb. I picked Marmol in alot of my leagues and should have hand-cuffed him with Gregg but lost my chance.

I actually think it was the right move, and also expected it!Gregg has been far more effective this spring and Marmol is the best set-up man in baseball! The Cubs will score a ton of runs this year and Marmol can shut teams down for more than one inning!Gregg just needs to do that in the 9th!Weather it will last all season is another thang!B)

Marmol will still be useful as a middle reliever and will still see some saves throughout the year.

In my 14 team keeper league (scoring in signature),

Is Marmol still worth keeping at $10 or should I keep Ankiel, Meche or Napoli (all at $10)?

My other keepers: Votto, Hamilton, Kinsler, Billingsley, Gallardo, Kershaw, Broxton.

I can only keep 1 more, so should it be Marmol, Ankiel, Meche, or Napoli?

I still think Marmol is the guy there... better arm, better stats, more team wins.

I think he will make his value this seaosn even in a middle relief role - picking up a few saves here and there - assuming gregg can hold down the job.

He\'d still be my keeper choice over the others
