I\'ve been offered Chris Davis for Jay Bruce. We\'ve just started our 5 man turnover draft and the 3B pool is pretty shallow. The best 3B left are probably Huff & Cantu, which I\'m not thrilled about. These are my hitters with standard 5x5 scoring plus OPS.

    C - Brian McCann
    1B - Albert Pujols
    2B - Chase Utley
    3B - --empty--
    SS - José Reyes
    OF - Ryan Braun
    OF - Jacoby Ellsbury
    OF - Adam Dunn
    Util - Lance Berkman
    Util - Jay Bruce
    BN - Chris Iannetta
    BN - Nelson Cruz

If I deal Bruce, that means Cruz slides into my starting line-up, unless I can find someone to take McCann for a solid UTIL player then move Ianetta to C.

    Thoughts?

I would prefer to keep Bruce here as he is a superior keeper to Davis. Do you think he\'d deal Davis for Dunn? To me that is something I would consider doing.

IF I am dealing for \'position\' i.e. fill my 3B - I\'d want someone of equal value just at a differnt position. I just dont see Bruce as equal value to Davis here. Depending on scoring format (i.e. if Batting avg. or K\'s are included) Dunn is more expendable and would allow you to keep Bruce. It would not solve your McCann/Iannetta problem but I dont see a problem in trading McCann if that\'s something you are willing to do. Getting appropriate value for McCann CAN be an issue (I\'ve had problems in the past). IF you are able to flip Dunn for Davis - you don\'t have to fill a specific Position in a trade for Iannetta/McCann which makes it easier to trade.

If I can\'t trade someone else to land a 3B - Huff and or Cantu aren\'t ideal but not terrible options considering the offense you have at other positions. I\'d go Huff over Cantu here but not by much esp. if H Ram is batting 3 to Cantu\'s 4th or something like that.

    Hope I helped!

It\'s actually a fairly even deal. Both will mash the hell out of the ball. However, I would draft Huff with confidence. Huff\'s proved he can mash the ball. He lost it for a couple years, but looks like he\'s discovered his stroke again, on an underrated Baltimore team (fantasy-wise).

So I drafted Huff to fill my need at 3B for now. Guess I\'ll wait and see how he does before potentially making another move I guess.

    Thanks for your help guys!

Since 2002, Huff has hit 20 or more HR, except for 1 year. I\'d say he\'s a relative low risk pick.

Nice move drafting Huff. A good fill in a weak spot.

Still, I can\'t help but think Davis and Bruce are pretty even and if I really needed a 3b or 1b I might do it despite the Bruce hype. Still, you don\'t have that kind of need after grabbing Huff so it is just a preference thing I think.
