    Default Lundy shoulda sat

10 shots...4 goals, none of them were especially tough shots, a couple minor deflections...he has looked nothing like hmself tonight...the Rags probably shoulda just sat him and made sure he was all rested for the playoffs...now he's gotta come off this bad game and potentially play thr same team in round 1

Yeah I dunno a few of the goals were tough for him...

First one was screened, second one was deflected, I think so was the third one... Caps getting a lot of lucky bounces in this one hard to fault Lundy...

It's easy to say that after the fact. If it was 1-0 Rangers right now would you be saying the same thing? They wanted the President's Trophy, so they iced their best roster. Lundqvist is also only one game away from 40 wins, a feat he's never done so far so I imagine he would've asked Tortorella to play him.

this comment makes absolutely no sense...why would I be saying they shoulda sat him if he was pitching a SO? He's looked really off all game, not at all himself

I think its all about priorities and the Rangers have been baffling on this front all week. The ONLY priority they should be focused on is winning the cup, nothing else matters so all this nonsense about winning the President's trophy or getting Lundy 40 wins is irrelevant...the same thing with Torts' dumb comments aginst Sid and the Pens...lots of little distractions to a team that should be focused on winning all their playoff games and getting as healthy as possible in anticipation of that.

They've looked better in the latter half of the 2nd period though so maybe they're starting to find their groove and can make the comeback in the 3rd

So what you're saying is, before the game started the Rangers should have played Lundqvist, but since it's the end of the 2nd period and the Capitals are leading 4-1 they should have benched Lundqvist.

no I'm saying there is no way for us as casual observers to make that determination before the game because we aren't on the Rangers training or goaltending team so of course there is no way we can determine it until after the fact...but the coaching staff and trainers probabyl shoulda sat him and let him rest up, he's probably the most important player on that team, you want him 100% both mentally and physically.

To be fair, I don't think anyone (coaching staff / trainers / etc.) could have predicted he would play so bad. The objective of every game is to win, so they tried to win. If he shut the Capitals out, then maybe that gets into the heads of the Capitals before the playoff series starts.

also fun fact: if both Washington (leading 4-1) and Florida (leading 2-0) win, Rangers will play Ottawa in the first round.

i disagree the injury left him unable to grip his stick well

if he hadnt gotten full use of his arm back they absolutely should have known

everyone knows lundqvist has a weak glove if he cant hold his stick he most certainly is going to play bad you dont need to be a coach or trainer or anything else to figure that one out
