When is this guy going to pan? Hold strong, or cut bait?

This all depends on your league, your keepers, your scoring and your player limits. Without all of that info it's impossible to give you sound advice. But, just shooting off the hip here - I think next year is a BIG year for Hedman. He should have a large role with the Bolts and should get more opportunity to produce offensively. We'll start to see if he's more Alex Pietrangelo or more Erik Johnson by next year. If you could be patient and hold onto him, I would. But again, that all depends on your league, etc.

Ya, I suppose some league info would have been helpful here. 10 Team, Points Only. Hedman makes an average salary for a d-man in our league, but in two years he will become one of the top paid d-men by default. So I basically need to know if he is going to be a 40-50 point guy in the next couple seasons. I would try and hedge my bets and just sell him now, but I don't think I'd get much of anything for him.

    Thanks for your advice!

You answered your own question. If you dont get much of anything for him, keep him. Like what Fungchen mentioned earlier, take next year and assess what type of Dman he evolves to be. In a points only system, might be better options for you out there. But dont sell low on Hedman, just yet.

Guys like OEL, Fowler, JJ, Subban, Suter, Goli, Shattenkirk, Carlson would be guys of similar trade value , IMO. Points only systems. Young, talented, highly regarded. Dmen looking to take over the teams offensive D responsibilities.

In 2 yrs, if Hedman still hasn't posted back to back 40 pts season and he is the highest paid Dman in your league. Better shop him around aggressively for any of the other mentioned Dmen above.
If you get an offer for Hedman like: Weber, Yandle, Letang, Keith, Doughty, Edler...IMO. Pretty much, the proven one hit wonders already. Then, thats a steal.

Gotta love the inter-league Dobber Forum lurking.
