According to the Twitterverse, he's out at least 2-4 weeks with a shoulder injury. Hopefully he gets IR'd in the next day or so.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Steve Downie was on the ice at the Pepsi Center this morning, skating and taking slap shots. As I type this, Downie is being examined by team doctors and there is a chance he will play tonight against Minnesota.His shoulder injury obviously doesn’t appear to be as bad as everybody first feared. Downie has always had the reputation of being extremely tough. Here is some video of him today
