Valterri Filppula reminds me of a Targaryen. He has the hair and eyes. And the eyebrows...

Anyway I watched the first season in about a days span. This show was better than I expected and I look forward to the next season.

I had some questions but forget most of them.

    Song of Ice and Fire
Wheel of Time (though it is much too long)
Shannara series by Terry Brooks (more nostalgia than anything)
    Terry Pratchett's Discworld (Hilarious)
Chronicles of Narnia good for children
    Hobbit and LOTR
Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson (he's the one who's finishing up Wheel of time for Robert Jordan)

I know there are more that I've read, but this is what's come off the top of my head.
    For me:

Edding/Brooks/Feist/Goodkind/Gemmel - sentimental value, first forays into fantasy

Now, probably Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen.

Forgot about Malazan novels. I'm currently on the third one, but reading something else at the moment. He's got a great story, but a really dry writing style.

Love his dry humor, and the scope.

His anthropology background is really evident - epicanthic fold/diaspora?

Totally. I'm so appreciative of the fact that I took an anthropology class back in my university days. I can totally see it in his writing. He's a stud for some things. Seriously, I'm forced to steal something similar to what he put in his books though for my own series. It's more of a borrow and tweak to make it my own kind of thing. lol!

It has been a while since I read the second book.... any thoughts on some of the major differences after the second season opener?

If anyone is like me and isn't really interested in the whole let's wait a week for every new episode, supposedly HBO GO in Europe is releasing episodes a week early:

According to reports, they will release every episode this season a week early on HBO GO. I don’t know if that is true or not, I’m hoping it is not, but they’ve definitely released episode 12 early this week,
So without further ado, here is a link for the torrent of episode 2. You can thank me later.

So tempting. I kind of want to wait and watch it with the people I've been watching it with. Kind of more fun that way.

So, last weeks episode was good. And to answer the question posed before, the only major change I can remember off the top of my head with the Cersei/littlefinger moment with the guards. Though, it served quite well to show how evil she really is.

I can't wait to see what happens this next week with Craster's place, Arya arc is budding now, and I'm guessing that's where we start the episode this week. It's going to be a Happy Easter.

That's pretty funny man. So tell me, how is Sunday's episode since you watched it already?

    Yes. Yes I have.

It's another "information episode" with very little action. I'm fine with that as I really enjoyed it, especially seeing some characters, places and scenes from the book. The Arya scenes and the Tyrion/Janos Lynt are pretty much exactly what I imagined when reading. Pyke looks AWESOME!! We still don't get much on who the F Davos is (for non readers), but his stuff with Sallador is also cool and gets me pumped for the big battle. I wouldn't judge a character like Melisandre after her tiny scene in episode 1, but she (and her body) are growing on me.

Couple of new scenes as well annnnd I'm pretty sure the ending is a little different than the books but I liked it for the show.

All in all a better episode than number one and the sort of slower pace gets me even more excited for what's coming up.

Does anyone else find that the actors playing Stannis and Daves Seaworth could have been switched?

Try to separate facial and acting abilities with their actual characters.

I feel that Stannis should be more fearful yet show some doubt. The actor shows the later, not the former.

And Davos shows lots of respect and humility but I feel he could played Stannis and been a more imposing figure.

    Maybe its the beard.

Having a mental image of what ithought they should look like, this is exactly what I thought when I saw who they had cast as both characters. I had never seen work from either actor so I just couldn't picture it. Davos has grown on me, but Stannis will forever be Mark Strong in my opinion.
