Sigh. Really bad news for Pens fans, Letang's so key to that team, not just on offense. As far as fantasy goes, the only consolation for me is that I made sure I had lots of depth on D heading into the playoffs, since our rosters are now frozen, very sensible move especially in hindsight.

What would be the Pens reasons to IR him tho? Doesn't the roster limit increase now that the trade deadline has passed? I am really contemplating just dropping him in my one year. Our playoffs end the week before the season is over, April 1, does anyone think he will be back in three weeks?

If you can, I would wait until early next week to decide. I find it hard to imagine a guy who already missed 20+ games this year would be back quickly but if he is back in full practice Monday, there is a chance. Anything other then that news would lead me to believe we aren't going to see him for a long time and I would drop him in one year leagues.

I would keep and eye on Morrow. It would make sense to give him a shot now. They should probably find out now if he can run a PP instead of waiting until the playoffs.

I hope Letang is Ok but I am not optimistic.

Morrow is in juniors right now. He won't be joining the Pens.

I would imagine we might be seeing Despres sooner rather than later, though.

Its no coincidence that December was the worst month for the Pens this season and that they went on a roll once he got back. He is such an important cog to this team. Malkin, Neal, Fleury and Staal owners should all expect dips in production.

I really hope Crosby can come back because if Letang is out for the rest of the season Crosby is our only hope for a cup.

malkin and neal don't need letang to get points. they will continue to roll with or with letang in the lineup.

You mean Malkinb does not rely on Letang, and as long as Malkin is healthy Nel will continue to roll.

I agree that they will still get points but maybe not quite as many as they were when Letang was in the line up. He is the only quality puck moving defensemen the Pens have. His absence will hurt the power play and decrease offensive zone time.

I agree. Malkin's a beast and would put up points even if he was playing for the Blue Jackets, he makes other players better, not the other way around. But it's ludicrous to suggest that the loss of a superstar offensive defenseman like Letang won't threaten to impact Malkin (or Neal) production. Letang's like a 3rd winger out there in terms of creating scoring opportunities, and for a guy like Malkin who has such great on-ice vision, he is such a great outlet especially since Malkin attracts defenders like bees to honey, and so does Letang.

Any news about him? They were supposed to check him yesterday morning and I can't come up with any updates. I'm not sure if I should use my last IR on him. If he comes back in less than 2 weeks, it's not worth it, but if it lasts longer, I would use that last IR right now. Have you seen something guys???

Anyone in Pittsburgh have an update on him? Was he at practice this morning?
