Canucks should talk to Caps ASAP

I think the 'nucks priority should really be an upgrade on defence, not another forward - especially since Salo has been eerily healthy this year.
But that being said, some more sandpaper on the 3rd line wouldn't go astray.

Since Raymond is kind of moving down the chart anyway, howabout this -

Raymond and a 3rd to Washington for Hamrlik and pending UFA Knuble.

First, the numbers (thanks capgeek)

'Nucks have about $400k available. But with Ballard on LTIR, that number jumps to $4.6m.

Hamrlik (2 years at $3.5m) and Knuble (last year at $2m) fill needs for the Canucks and add experience. Raymond (pending RFA at $2.55m) could thrive in a different environment.

If they need another D back, throw them Sulzer or Ballard if they can take him. Even Rome, not a huge fan but he does provide decent depth.

A physical defensive defenseman would be nice... I'm sorry Rome & Alberts do not count. Hal Gill would have been ideal. An injury to Hamhuis in last year's playoffs showed the lack of shut-down depth.

Raymond is moveable, but I agree that not a lot of tweaking is needed.
