    Default Pietrangelo or Phaneuf?

Who would you want in a keeper league? Categories are in my signature below.

I already own Weber as a keeper and Phaneuf would likely be one as well. My team is so far out of it I'm trying to prepare for next year. The guy that owns Pietrangelo is contending and this would probably be my only shot at Pietrangelo.

Does Pietrangelo take a big step next year into the elite levels of defenders?

For reference my league is a head to head points league. I currently own the two best dman in the league in Weber and Phaneuf (Weber has 204 points, Phaneuf has 185) and Pietrangelo is the 8th best dman in our league (at 167 points).

Will Pietrangelo continue to push his value up next year?

I'd keep Phaneuf IMO... He's more proven over Pietrangelo's potential.

I'd need something else included (draft pick/prospect) to make the swap.

I think Phaneuf is the safer option here, but as you know Angus and Dobber have been gushing over Pietrangelo and feel he's going to be top 10 stud status sooner than later. So Phaneuf for this season, but maybe Pietrangelo next. Hitchcock has been a huge boon for St. Louis.

I'd go with Pietrangelo too. It's close but I think Alex is on pace to become a top-10 D-men in the league in future years. If you can get him now, do it.

Glad I came into this thread even though it already had 8 posts.....since it's currently 4-4 I feel like my vote could have some swaying power haha.

I'll go with AP for sure though. He's just beginning to scratch the surface of what he can do and let's be serious, with Tarasenko and Schwarz on the way the Blues are looking to be a powerhouse for years to come.

You also already have Weber, and I feel like Phaneuf is a like a Weber-lite.

Petro for me, the guy couldn't catch a break at the start of the year. Making up for it now though. His stats have been there right through his slow start. SOG, +/-, PP TOI. He is set up to succeed in STL for many years to come. Phaneuf may be riding the coat tails of kessel and lupuls big season a little bit as well. I don't buy into what the leafs are selling I think they are playing over their head and the scam will be up soon, it is already starting to fall apart.

If you check my thread for Nikitin you will see that Pietrangelo is 12th in the league in points/game this season where as Phaneuf is 17th. Considering Pietrangelo's crappy start to the season that is very impressive. Blocked shots are also worth .3 points and in defensive systems like St. Louis, defensemen tend to rack up blocked shots.
