Default Offered a Blockbuster centered around Stamkos!

So a new manager just took over a team in my keeper league and sent me this offer out of nowhere.

    His Stamkos/Anderson/5th round
    for my
    Daniel Sedin/Bryzgalov/7th round

Now, on the surface, I love this deal. After all, I get Stamkos!

But I'd be sending one of the top LWs in the game for a C which I'm already stacked at with Malkin/Backstrom. The dual eligibility for so many guys makes it easy to lose that LW this year, but what happens going forward if guys like Malkin/Skinner/Backes don't end up with wing eligibility?

The goalie situation doesn't bother me too much. I think Anderson/Bryzgalov will put up similar stats for the rest of the season and Anderson may even start more which could help me in Wins and Saves. I was planning on moving Bryz in the offseason anyway especially if Schneider gets traded. I could do the same with Anderson (albeit likely for a lesser return).

Also, I'm going for the win now.

So let me know what you think, pull the trigger or not?
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

No. Anderson won't be the goalie in Ottawa much longer. Can't say the same for Bryz. You lose big time in the goalie swap.

This one is a tough call. If you feel that you can win with the roster that you already have this season or next season, and if Bryz is a big part of future, then I would say no. If Bryz is not part of the future going foward then I would say go for it cause in the long term, it's worth it to get Stamkos who is like the new Brett Hull. I still think Malkin and Datsyuk will maintain their duel eligibility going forward. Worse case scenerio, Backstrom or Datsyuk could be trade bait for a heavy LW next season if needs be.

It's a close one but I think you've gotta do this man - it's Steven Freaking Stamkos! The #1 player in a keeper IMO.

With Z and Dats having LW eligibility I think you can afford to lose Sedin. I don't like the loss of Bryz, I think he'll bounce back at some point, but Anderson's no slouch either. With the way things are going, Anderson will probably help you more than Bryz this year anyway, and I think Stammer will win the Art Ross and be the only 50+ scorer this year.

Do it... Stamkos is a much better asset to hold long-term than Sedin. The rest is just noise.

I would make this trade 10 times out of 10. To me it is not even close. Stamkos is the man now and he will be for the next 10 years. And you were going to move Bryz anyways, why not get the best man in hockey?

I already have Thomas/Rask/Schneider who will probably be my 3 keeper goalies for next year. I don't want to use 4 of my 15 keeper spots on goaltenders. I would probably move Bryz in the offseason anyway. Looking more for the remainder of the season at the goalies and with Bob stealing starts from Bryz, Anderson may be the better option.

My bad, it was actually a 4th round for 6th. The guys who went around that point last year were: Early 4th- OEL, Ian White vs Late 6th Lupul , Robidas

With my other goaltenders, especially if Schneider is moved, I don't see Bryz as part of the future. Thomas/Rask is a deadly combo and are both keepers. I don't want to keep 4 goalies as I can pick up a good 4th goalie in the draft. Did it last year with Giguere (who I flipped and picked up Bobrovsky), then did it again this year with Schneider.

I think it is mostly a sideways move for now but could be a huge benefit for the future. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the input, I'm leaning towards taking it. I sent the other manager an e-mail to let him know I was thinking about it. He said he would sweeten the deal a bit if I wanted so I'll probably pull the trigger on a deal similar to this.

I was leaning toward telling you to do it. Now that i see your tenders coming up, i'm off the tilt and totally on board with making the deal happen!

I'm with one87. This makes sense to me now. You get Stamkos who's a beast to own.
