O. Jokinen/Brodeur for Kovalchuk/Vokoun

I would like to upgrade my goal tending, but would this be worth it if it means giving up kovalchuk?

Gotta give to get - Marty is likely worth Kovie in your league and I think Ollie is a solid play. The devil is in the details = I would need to know a lot more detail before I hung it out there but on the surface I see nothing overly alarming about this deal.

How many do you keep from year to year?

On the surface I agree with Shoeless [I find I write that a lot on these forums], he gets the upgraded LW you get the upgrade in G. LW is traditionally the hardest position to fill well and you still have Tanguay and Semin there so on the whole I like this for you. You deal from your strength to address where you are weak...makes sense to me.

We keep 4 players for no longer than 4 years so age is not a huge factor (this is the first year). I also don\'t think I\'ve won a week in +/- even with Heatley on my team so getting rid of Kovalchuk might help with that category.

You know Andrew I have had a great debate this year about whether LW or G are more critical and harder to fill. They are close but year in and year out my results hinge more on a goalie than on a LW I think.

Truthfully, I\'m writing about what I don\'t personally know anything about as my pool lumps all forwards together [my own preference].

If LW is the harder position to fill he still comes out pretty good with Brodeur in net and Tanguay and Semin at LW. If you\'re right, then he likely wins this deal outright as Brodeur should produce at an excellent level for the 4 years that this pool runs for.

Either way he addresses a glaring weakness in net.
