He didnt look too bad after the hit. Seems like its a concussion issue that goes back to last season.

He's been clocked quite a few times:

Wonder what Burke thinks of that cheap shot. The NHL is full of crap like that now. At least there's no bench clearing brawls anymore. Green will just get run everytime he comes back now. No one on the Caps roster will retaliate either. Too busy counting their money.

Well, looks like we can rule out the concussion concerns, at least for now:

Mike Green’s comeback from a significant groin tear may be short-lived.

Green pulled himself out of Saturday night’s 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks after taking just nine shifts for 7:11 of ice time. Green took just two shifts in the second period and did not report to the bench for the third period.

After the game Capitals coach Dale Hunter told reporters that Green’s groin tightened up in the second period and that’s why he was taken out of the game. He’ll be evaluated again on Sunday.

Green sent up a few red flags last week when he told reporters not to expect too much from him when he returned to the lineup after missing nearly two months with a groin injury.

Back then, Green talked about having to alter his skating stride to compensate for the torn groin he suffered back on Nov. 11.

Can they at least put him on IR this time if he will be out for a while instead of leaving him on DTD forever?

I'd almost be happier to see them definitively shut him down for the season and for him to heal properly for next year, and be able to pick someone up to fill in that roster slot.

Concussion or groin-pull? Don't know which one is worse.

If he's gone for the rest of the year, I'd rather they just say it. I own him in a one-year so I'd just love to drop him.

I'm ahead of the NHL on the new term "injury-like symptoms". That is what Mike Green has.

Well, when you have a guy like Mike Green (who has had concussion history in the past) who gets hit head-first into the boards and leaves a shift later, it's not too presumptuous to believe that it's a concussion. Don't believe it is after hearing about the groin, but it was a fair judgement call considering the amount of people that have been taken out of the game for similar hits.

I think he should sit out for the rest of the season. I have no problem hanging on to Green at this point, just as long as they put him on the IR and not DTD for months.

Maybe he'll shock us all and end up playing in the CAPS next game (man, I couldn't even keep a straight face typing those ridiculous words).
