Could be an interesting rematch:
Bourque, who was traded Friday from Calgary to Montreal, has served four games of the five-game suspension he received for his elbow on Backstrom. His suspension will be over before the Capitals visit the Canadiens on Wednesday, which could provide some fireworks.

An elbow to the head has kept Nicklas Backstrom off the ice for well over a week now, but Washington Capitals general manager George McPhee offered a somewhat optimistic report on his leading scorer.
Nick's doing really well, McPhee said Tuesday. He feels good. I'm, I guess, happy to report that he's progressing.
Backstrom suffered an apparent concussion when Rene Bourque's elbow hit him in the jaw in the third period of the Caps' Jan. 3 game against the Calgary Flames.
I just felt it in my whole head, Backstrom said two days after the play that eventually forced him out of the game.
It seems likely that Backstrom will be out through at least the All-Star break given that he hasn't skated since Jan. 6 in San Jose, but McPhee was not ready to make that pronouncement.
Not necessarily. Whenever he's ready to get going, we'll get him going, the GM said. But obviously we're going to be real careful because we want this to be a one time thing and something we never have to worry about again.
I hope when he comes back....and I hope its really soon.....he scores a goal that banks off Bourque's head and in the net, knocking Bourque out for the season. This injury thing is getting old for me: Backstrom, Eberle, Buff, and now Benn. I can't hold on to 1st place much longer of this keeps up. I hope Spezza doesn't plan to take any time off this year or I'll be ruined.....lol
Here's to Backstrom coming back really soon and lighting it up when he does!!
14 team points only league
9 forwards (3 of each position)
4 defense
2 goalies
farm team option
Must submit top 4 pointing players back into draft at end of every season
14 rounds
Can only carry over 12 players each year
FYI, he skated for about 5 minutes before practice today. Nothing huge, but a step in the right direction.

not a good sign at all ..... I really thought he was going to make a swift return at first .... never know with these thingsKatie Carrera @kcarrera
Dale Hunter says Nicklas Backstrom didn't skate at all over the break. Not a good sign for the centerman. #Caps

Backstrom's only been ice for 5 minutes in the past 24 days. Not good at all.
Crazy. I thought he was only going to be out 10 days (3 games) or so.
The guy in first in our league has both Backs and Jagr. And he won't offer me anything more than a 6th for Krejci. I'm not upset than Backs suffered a set back.
Head to Head League: 1 point for G, 1 point for A. 2 for Goalie win, 3 for SO.
Start 6 guys every week. 3 O, 2 D and 1G. No substitutions once they are in (before the first game starts on Monday).
Protect 3 players every year in keeper.
10 rounds of drafting
F: Crosby, Point, P. Kane, JVR, Kopitar, Rakell, Tarasenko,
D: Letang, Doughty, Karlsson, Grzelcyk, Faulk,
G: Bob, Shesterkin, Demko, Kahkonen
Some bad new for Backstrom I just read that : Unfortunately, he's nowhere near returning and all tallied he's spent a mere five minutes on the ice over the last 24 days. Keep him reserved indefinitely, as it could be quite some time before he's back in the fold for game action again FROM CBS.
That bad I just aquired him last thursday because on last wednesday I read The IR - Toews, Jarg, Morrow here on Dobber site. That what I read for Backstrom : Backstrom returned to the ice on Monday to join the Caps in practice. He was wearing a non-contact jersey which tells me he is still at least seven or 10 days away. Expect him back by February 4th when Washington is in Montreal to play against Rene Bourque.
