A free house just opened near my work. They have around 20 taps. Good beer there. I'd say there are about 5 bars in Auckland that serve a wide range of good beer.

It's a good thing I've been getting loads of OT. These re-stocking runs are getting expensive.

    The new ones:

Tallgrass Wild Plum Farmhouse Ale - A seasonal Saison brewed with plums. Different, but nothing more than a tasty novelty. Yep already had one with lunch.
    Tallgrass Pub Ale
    Thunderhead Cornstalker
    Blvd KC Pils

Lots of old favorites in addition to those. And on to where the majority of the money went...

    Bruichladdich 10 y.o.-

    The Macallan 12 y.o.

    That plum saison sounds tasty.

Off to the gym, then reload the fridge as well...it's Friday boys!

Well, the trip to the gym was a success, as was the trip to refill the beer fridge. On the advice of my best buddy from Ontario, I'm currently enjoying one of these:

It's solid, but the hop smack isn't quite there. Cheers fellas!

It is that. The trick is with the remaining three cans is trying to see if it's just a novelty or a real solid variation on a saison. Either way, I enjoyed it.

That jogged my memory. I bought another bottle of that Love Child No.3 from Blvd. I hadn't even thought about until I saw more in the cooler at the local merchant. There wasn't even the slightest hesitation, the door was open and the bottle in hand before I really even gave it a thought, well conscious thought anyway.

    Onto this:

Discovered a good little lawnmower beer out of that a small group of new beers I picked up yesterday....

It's good little dark wheat beer. Elements of porter/stout in it, but as easy drinking, refreshing, and sessionable as a wheat beer. It comes from a really small brewer, Thunderhead, but it's well worth a grab if it should somehow ever cross your path.

That is indeed dark for a wheat beer. Looks good though. It's warm and sunny here, so I just enjoyed this nice, light, yet hoppy treat on the deck with the wife:

Went with another supposed 'craft' beer from Ontario. This is awful. It's bitter without the hop taste:

    Wishing everyone else better luck.

    Alright boys,

I'm assuming the lack of activity on this thread means one of two things:

    1) Everyone's in Summer mode
    2) Nobody drinks beer anymore

I highly doubt it's #2, so I'm excited to say I'm leaving in an hour for Idaho via Eastern Washington. I've already got a bottle shop in mind, right along the way that has 3 bottles of pre purchsed this:

I'm excited. What's everybody else drinking this weekend?

Plenty of Ethos, Old Rasputin, 5 Barrel Pale Ale, and Dark Truth. And I can't wait to crack open that second bottle of Love Child No.3.

On the whisky front, the last dram or two of Laphroaig, and then tap into either the Macallan 12 or Bruichladdich 10. Kind of leaning towards the Laddie 10. I'm developing a taste for the peat monsters of Islay. Though there's absolutely nothing wrong with a good speyside either.

Speaking of the whisky, have you guys seen this....

    http://www.privatepreserve.com/uses.htm

It was originally aimed at the vino crowd, but it works just as well keeping whisky fresh.

Alright boys my first contribution to this thread, although I'm far from a connoisseur, I love the sweet nectars of the gods.

Lagavulin's my favorite single malt, love the massive peat flavor.

As for beer, have to say I love Belgians, the Tripel Karmeliet and Chimay Blanc in particular. Also like the St Ambroise / Macauslan family, big fan of Griffon Pale, had about a million pints of the stuff when I was at McGill.

Man haven't had Lagavulin since I tended bar. Much cheaper then...

Tonight is Stone IPA for me. Not to be confused w/ STONE.'s IPA.

Anywho...First time, and very pleased. Not as hop heavy as the Southern Tier and a bit smoother up front. The IPAs generally have defaulted to my go-to brew during the Summer months. Used to be Stella but the IPAs have better depth imo.

For tomorrow I snagged a four pack of Ommegang (duh) BPA. Tip of the hat to NWO for turning me on.

...uh, to the beer that is.
