listening to the boston announcer and he's basically saying Karlsson is crap defensively and shouldn't win the Norris.

I'm a Sens fan, and recognize Karlsson used to be terrible defensively.

the one big thing in support of Karlsson this season is he's +15 while Sens are only +6 in GF versus GA, and total team +/- is +38.

meanwhile Chara is + 22, but the Bruins are +60 in GF vs GA, and total team +/- is +228.

FYI, since the Great Expansion in 1967-68, there have been ONLY 7 defenseman who have registered a point on 30% or more of the goals their team has scored during a season.

Here is the highest % ranking:

    1.) Orr – 43%
    2.) Karlsson – 34% / Housley – 34%
    3.) Potvin – 33% / Coffey – 33%
    4.) Leetch – 32% / Bourque – 32%

    Orr did it 6 times (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975)

Karlsson is currently doing it (2012)

    Housley did it 2 times (1992, 1993)

Potvin did it 1 time (1976)

    Coffey did it 5 times (1985, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1995)

    Leetch did it 4 times (1992, 1996, 1997, 2001)

    Bourque did it 4 times (1987, 1991, 1992, 1994)

Karlsson is among pretty fine company, eh?

I'd be pretty happy if he put up 55-65 every year for the rest of his career, that would still probably make him a top 5 Dman to own for fantasy points leagues.

The fact that he might threaten and surpass 70 now and then is just huge gravy.

I saw he got a goal - it popped up on my CBS Sportsline. How was it? He needs a 3 pointer tonight.

Managed to sneak down near goal line, fired in rebound from a few feet from boards, near goal line. He has just been going all night. He has had more than one end to end rush. He is like a 3rd winger out there, and he is so fast, he rarely gets caught in a bad spot defensively. He appears to run almost all of the team's offense.

On a side note, Gonchar scored a sweet goal off a nice read tonight too.

It appears to be something the Ottawa D are being asked to do - read and find open places down low to create offense, as two of their goals are a direct result of this.

For that magical 4th year, can Karlsson put up 100? That would be elite company amongst Coffey and Orr. Wow.

I'm amazed by this kid but let's not get crazy. If he hits 80 I'll be blown away - 100 points would be the 2nd coming of Coffey in this day and age...and I'm going to say that's impossible.
