How would you rank my Defence?

I'm looking to move some of my D in trades over the next little while. As a starting point I'd like help identifying my keepers and ranking the rest. Background: This year is a write off. I'm looking to be competitive next year and solidly in the hunt after that. So, I'd like production next year but the year after and moving forward it's critical. I will likely keep 3 D and we can also protect a minimum of 2 rookies. So , who to keep and who to move? Team and scoring cats in sig.

I would keep: Goligoski, Rundblad and Kulikov

If you can keep Voynov and B.Smith as rookies too, good for you.

I could use a little more help lads. Does the Rundblad/Turris trade change anything??

To me, it bumps Smith up and Rundblad down. Kid has talent and a lot of upside, but Gormley, Goncharov, Summers, Murphy, Stone, OEL, Schlemko - that's a lot of competition, not to mention Yandle and the regulars. Rundblad should pan out eventually, good players always find a way, but this could slow him down. To me, the path is open sooner for Smith, and he will be a good one, too.

In your format, B.Smith >> Rundblad. Smith may simply outpoint him to begin with, but he will also get more PIM, throw more hits and have a better +/- without a doubt.
