Default NSHL - 11th Year STHS2 League Looking For 2 GMs

The National Simulated Hockey League (NSHL) is an STHS 2 simulated hockey league that is in the off-season ahead of its 11th season and is seeking out two active, mature, hockey-smart GMs for franchises in Hartford and Nashville (both teams have potential to be re-located upon hiring).

    A BIT ABOUT THE LEAGUE

The NSHL is a 24 team sim league that runs on a 78 game regular season custom-made schedule. We recently converted to our own league-based re-rates for the NSHL, our minor leagues (MSHL) as well as custom NHL-based re-rates for new players.

We also feature a two person Player Agent system to handle ongoing free agent negotiations which are both GM elected positions. We’ve also recently incorporated a GM ‘Union’ with a voted on leader as well to ensure all rules and decision are handled with everyone’s best interest in mind.

    ABOUT THE TEAMS

The Hartford Whalers recently had their GM leave due to a lack of time to participate and have a fairly solid core (Marian Gaborik, Zach Parise, Dan Boyle, Kris Letang). They do lack depth and need to be careful about their spending despite the fact that they were a playoff team last year (when they were in Columbus where they finished 8th and were out in the first round).

The team probably should shed some payroll and by moving a couple of their ‘name’ players could easily re-stock their prospects and picks and remain competitive.

    Their roster is here.

The Nashville Predators are the league’s wealthiest team after years of smart spending by a former GM. The team is very well poised to make a serious run with names like Ryan Getzlaf, Patrick Kane, Loui Eriksson and the recent signings of Martin Brodeur and Wade Redden on defense by the league (handling team free agency until a GM is found).

While they’re not as depleted depth-wise as the Whalers their farm system and prospects could use improvement but a new GM would have any number of options to make a move here and there to bulk up.

    Their roster is here.

    REQUIREMENTS

The league is seeking out two active GMs for these spots. During the off-season usually 30 minutes 2 maybe 3 days a week is required to keep up with free agency and respond to e-mails is required. Once the season gets going teams generally play once every two days so a 10-15 minute commitment prior to each game is necessary to handle roster moves and line changes. The GM would also be required to submit e-mails for various league votes and respond to trade inquiries.

The NSHL also prides itself on being in depth and offers several ‘extras’ throughout the year (a Point Scoring Tournament, rewards for new league ideas that benefit your team, an off-season Training Camp to improve young players etc). With all of these add-ons the league requires a mature GM that picks things up fairly quickly.

We’ve also jumped onto Twitter over the past year which takes the place of the ‘typical’ messageboard and an account would be extremely beneficial to keep up with league matters without having to check the website on an ongoing basis.

If you’re interested, please send an e-mail to [email protected] and express why you think you’d be a benefit to the league. Any background on league(s) you’ve been in or are currently in would be an extreme help and offer insight to your commitment and experience.

    Thank you for reading.

After a short break during the Holidays, the league is back and still looking for two GMs in our vacant cities. We're a couple of weeks away from the pre-season meaning it's the perfect time to sign-up and begin building your team!
