Lehtonen+Semin+Michalek for Nabokov

My team is in the signature below. This deal sees me getting an upgrade in goal in terms of Nabokov by giving away Leht+Semin+Michalek. Is this a good deal for me? I really like the way Nabby is playing this year and figure with the young talent SJ has he should be able to put up numbers like this for a while, he\'s not too old 33 this year (only a year older than Kipper).

I\'m also lookin to get Kipper instead, and I may be able to attain him for a package with a little less value due to Kipper\'s slightly lower stats, plus the owner of Kipper is hurting for guys to keep for next season.

If this deal does go through I would have Frolov and Carter left who could be packaged for an upgrade of a 4th keeper forward, or I could take a shot at a keeper D.

Sorry about the ramblings and the length... any thoughts? Maybe I should be trying to go after a younger goalie?

If there were more keepers i\'d say you were drastically overpaying.

However...given that you have a limited number of keepers and of the three you\'re offering only lehtonen is one you\'re planning on keeping i\'d say this is a trade worth making. Nabby is an upgrade on Lehtonen.

Risks involved are:

A) You lose bench strength and ability to compete this year
B) Lehtonen gets an offer sheet in the summer and moves to a more competitive team thus allowing him to show his skill
C) Semin actually repeats last year and builds upon it thus making him a likely better keeper than someone like Stastny.

Seems awful expensive considering that Michalek and Semin can both potentially be much better than what they are showing now. I\'m almost under the impression that Nabby is good one year, bad the next, but I haven\'t checked the stats close enough... all I remember is getting burned by Nabby in previous years. I\'d almost be tempted to keep Semin as my 6th keeper, especially on a young and improving Washington team. Lehtonen hasn\'t really hit his potential and I don\'t know if he ever will. What can you swing to get Kipper?

I\'d do that for either Nabby or Kipper as long as it doesn\'t torpedo whatever it is that you\'re trying to do this season.

Honestly, I think Kipper will be better long-term, but that\'s just my opinion.

Yeah definately, I might be able to get Kipper for Lehtonen and Semin and maybe a throw in... we\'ll see that would help me hang onto Michalek and move him elsewhere.

This year I\'m stuck in 4th out of 20 teams. 20 pts. behind 1st but I can\'t make up the ground... my worst categories are PIM\'s, SHP, FOW, and GAA. I tried picking up Godard for some PIM\'s (haven\'t updated the signature on that yet). Other than that, I know I can\'t win with what I have, but based on the 6 keepers I\'m trying to get for next year I should be able to be very competitive and be in the top 3 for the next few years.

I\'ve also thought about going with the goalies I have and upgrading my C spot by moving Stasny and upgrading to an elite pivot. It would be a shame for me to send guys like Michalek, Carter, Frolov back in the draft where they\'ll get picked up by the bottom dwellers in our league and not see anything in return.

My thoughts.

I would start by moving Lehtonen and Semin for Kipper.

Then see if you can move Stastny + for an upgrade at C. It might be tough. I don\'t know who the bottom dwellers in your league have @ C.

If a Thornton or Spezza is available and you have to give up Stastny + Frolov + something else, who cares, do it.

If those Cs are taken by upper-echelon teams, maybe it doesn\'t happen.

But, personally, I would start with trying to do that 2 for 1 Kipper deal if you can swing it.
