**** it, I couldn't take it anymore. Had him since right after he was drafted by the BJs (fitting nickname right now). Was ever so patient but now - no more. Dropped his ass and picked up Frederik Andersen instead.

Saw this thread bumped up, but it doesn't look like anyone has posted the latest from Slava Malamud / Bob McKenzie:

Confirming @slavamalamud's report on Nikita Filatov leaving OTT organization to play in Russia.

    http://twitter.com/#!/TSNBobMcKenzie...37481262657536

Meanwhile, it looks like Slava deleted his previous tweets, which read:

    Slava Malamud
Nikita Filatov is going back to Russia today, sources say. Reliable sources. #Sens

    Slava Malamud
Filatov wanted to stay with #Sens, but didn't want to go down to Binghamton. Asked Murray to release him to KHL instead. Murray agreed.
    Setting up the play.

I can't believe I drafted Filatov over Giroux when given the choice three years ago....

Finally. I'm curious if they qualify him at the end of the year. Probably not.

I can't say i'm surprised. Now I'm wondering: is his NHL career done with for good? If not, how long will he be in Russia?

I feel your pain. They're such high-skilled players, it would be awful to let both go only to see them make an NHL return and stick. Now that would really piss me off!

The difference is that Radulov actually proved something at the NHL level.

Anyway, here's what Bryan Murray said in his press scrum regarding Filatov:

They will qualify him at the end of the year. They want to retain his rights.

Other players in the past have gone to Europe to develop and still become good players.

He needs to get stronger, compete more.

Understands his desire to not play in AHL over Russia. Financial reasons, more comfortable at home.

Hope this is an opportunity for him to get better as a player.

It is from a fantasy perspective. i doubt he ever comes back. He has built up too much of a reputation here in the NHL that any team bringing him back will have a difficult time giving him full reigns of his opportunity. I think it would be similar to what we saw with Zherdev.

Sounds like there was a lot of off ice issues at work here. I am amused at all those blaming the Sens organization when they probably gave him his best shot in the last 3 years to make the NHL. They had a team where he could have easily made it but its a lot more than just playing on the ice. If this was the only team/organization that shunned him, i could give more sympathy for Filatov but i have a feeling he carries his own shovel around.

Sometimes you get vilified...this is one of those times.

I warned people in the forums not to draft him and was run out of dodge for making such accusations.

I told everyone that would listen that this was another Radulov situation in the making and yet the amount of people that guarenteed that Filatov was different and was saying all the right stuff.

Nope...gone, done, history and in the books.

All I can say is those that were the naysayers then...I do hope you've learned something!
