I would agree with this - Pens are likely to keep him out longer than perhaps most other teams would given recent history.

Still no word on him...damn this is frustrating.

Finally we have some positive news.

Pierre McGuire spoke to Letang today, and says that he "would not be surprised" if Letang returned to game action before January 1st.

Incidentally, he also thinks that Crosby will be back the 1st game after January 1st.

Pierre McGuire, for all of his detractors, really knows the goings-on with the Pens given his prior relationship with the team. Plus he's got a super ego. If he says on TSN990 that he thinks Crosby will be back shortly after January 1st, I for one believe him, no way he sticks his neck out like that unless there's a good chance it will happen and he has some CONCRETE reasons for believing that it will happen.

He said the same kind of thing the day they announced that Pronger would be out for the season, anticipating that as well (although by that point I imagine there was quite a bit of buzz going around).

I like McGuire, I hope you didn't think I was bashing your point or anything. Just goofing around about how many times we heard this the last time.

While this is some positive news on Letang, I find it very hard to believe he will return before Jan. 1 given that at last report he hadn't even resumed skating yet.

Ah, I see, no worries man! Just that there are some out there who would tsk tsk at anything coming out of McGuire's mouth just cause they don't like the guy and he can be grating in some ways, glad to see you're not one of them!

Now, if you had said that it came from Eklund....different story, LOL.

Just my luck. As soon as I decided to trade Letang we get these updates on possible return dates. For what it's worth, I just watched Darren Dreger on the NHL.com who spoke about both Crosby/ Letang and he reported that Crosby is much more closer to be back on the ice than Letang. Crosby is doing off ice workouts and should be back early in the new year. Meanwhile Letang is still suffering from post concussion symptoms and hasn't been able to do virtually anything.

Interesting, I guess we'll find out who between McGuire and Dreger have better sources!

Kris Letang is feeling better, according to coach Dan Bylsma, in his recovery from a concussion.
However, the Pittsburgh blueliner has not resumed skating yet. Letang has missed the team's last 12 contests.
