Worth noting he's also sick and has a virus, Pens aren't sure if he has a concussion or not because the symptoms are the same apparently...or similar

Even without the sickness I think it's harder to diagnose concussion with Letang than it is usually with players (not that's it's ever easy). Letang is prone to migranes and the symptons are basically the same as to concussion. Here's an article from his rookie year:

Most days, Penguins defenseman Kris Letang feels healthy and happy and normal.

Then there are those days, a handful of times a year, when he has to stop what he is doing, lie down in a dark room and try to sleep through the vision loss in his left eye, intense nausea and a severe headache.

Letang knows when he starts having impaired vision that he is at the onset of a migraine, but it is unnerving each time.

It happened Thursday about an hour before the game at Ottawa.

"He said he felt the symptoms. He knows when they're coming," Penguins trainer Chris Stewart recalled yesterday.
The vision problems and nausea that caused him to be violently ill subsided enough over about 20 minutes for Letang to join the pregame warmup. Despite recurring symptoms, he played 18 minutes, 18 seconds, getting an assist in the third period of a 6-5 shootout win against the Senators.

"It was kind of a big one," said Letang, 20, who has had migraines since he was about 12. "During the game, it came back because the lights were too bright for me."

Hoooooly. I had never heard of this before. That's intense. And I thought I had bad migraines.

Looks like Martin is stepping up on the PP. Considering grabbing him now. 4pts in last 4.

Here is what I was referring to (from rotoworld)

Letang was hit in the head by Montreal's Max Pacioretty on November 26th. Letang was originally held out due to a broken nose, but he started experiencing concussion-like symptoms a couple days after the hit. However, he has also been battling a virus, so it's possible that's the real source of his symptoms. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks! Missed that one. What a weird update though.

Yes, agree, odd update in the sense that it is quite ambiguous. I'm trying to think in terms of worst-case scenario, say Letang misses months, what is the impact? Which players benefit? I'm thinking Martin. Anyone else?

Bylsma added that defensemen Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek, both of whom are being monitored for possible concussions, have "done fine" on ImPACT tests.

Letang, who also is suffering from an illness and a broken nose, continues to have some symptoms, although their source has not been determined. Michalek was symptom-free Saturday.

Bylsma said Michalek appears to be "much farther down the road to recovery than Kris." That makes him the more likely of the two to dress when Boston visits Consol Energy Center Monday night, although it is far from certain either will be ready then.

Yahoo reporting that he passed the concussion test.

"Coach Dan Bylsma said that Letang passed a concussion test Saturday but still feels concussion-like symptoms, Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports."

Depres will benefit but this won't have any effect on Morrow since he'll stay in Junior. Maybe long term but I doubt it. I think Niskanen will be one guy who will benefit from this. He's playing on a line with Orpik now.

    From CBS:

    Kris Letang, D PIT
News: Kris Letang has been diagnosed with a concussion, Penguins.NHL.com reports.
Analysis: It appears that the concussion test conducted by Pittsburgh over the weekend, which Kris Letang supposedly passed, was a bit off the mark. This news seems to indicate that Letang is all but certain to miss Monday's game against Boston, and his availability beyond that is also not a given.
