    Default Bernier starting tonight

This has to be the most idiotic decision ever!

You simply don't sit a goalie who's riding a streak of 3 consecutive shutouts.

LA has three divisional games coming up and wants to use Quick for those. I agree it may be better to ride Quick one or two more, but eventually he will need rest.

That's a bunch of crap. They would rather Quick play B2B and 3 in 4 nights versus 3 in 6 nights? Or he's just playing 2 in 4 nights? It's only the first month and they're resting him already? Let the man play, he deserves it!

Sorry but I disagree. As long as he keeps getting shutouts, he doesn't need any rest. So if he gets shutout from all of his games, he clearly doesn't need any rest

LA has had to days off so there's no reason to give Quick rest now that he's on an amazing streak. I don't care if the other two games this week are divisional matchups, ride the streak as long as it lasts. And it's not like you couldn't throw Bernier out there in a divisional game if and when Quick's shutout streak would have ended tonight. If it wouldn't have ended, then you keep playing him as long as it lasts.

NJ's arguably a better team than those other divisional teams anyways, so why not put your best goalie forward. These guys better be showcasing Bernier and shipping his ass out the door.

First Bob stole my start last night, and now Bernier. GAWDDDDDDDD

Not surprising at all. Terry Murray is one of the most indecisive and contradictory coaches in the league.

This is after Quick's second shutout:

Terry Murray laughed deeply when the subject of tomorrow night’s goalie came up. “Go ahead, take a guess,’’ he said. Jonathan Quick, perhaps? Quick is coming off back-to-back shutouts, and the Kings have two days between games after they face Dallas tomorrow, so the answer was obvious. During training camp, Murray said he wouldn’t keep his goalies on a strict schedule and would go with a hot hand.
    http://lakingsinsider.com/2011/10/21...-the-hot-hand/

So what's changed? Nothing other than Quick is now a 3 game shutout streak, instead of just two game streak. And suddenly you aren't riding the hot hand anymore or laughing at the idea of sitting Quick? Stupid, stupid decision.

Could it be a showcase for Bernier? There have been rumors of him to NJ for Parise... Just rumors though

First part of my initial statement is not my opinion - just reporting what has been stated by the team. I actually agree with you that they should ride the hot hand for another game at least.

I don't think posting SO means you need no rest though - only Quick knows how taxing those three games were physically and mentally.

You don't sit a goalie on a 3-game shutout streak just to showcase your backup goalie. That's like benching Ovechkin to showcase Perreault on a first line.

Besides, Devils would be stupid to trade their captain and best player for an unproven goalie, albeit one with a great future.

I was disagreeing with the part where you said he needs rest eventually. If he keeps getting shutout after another, they should play him no matter how much in need of a rest he is. If he gets the team 20 or 30 or 50 consecutive shutouts, I wouldn't rest him until he lets in a goal. And when he's getting those shutouts, it clearly shows me he's in a great shape and not in need of a rest.

Besides it's not like were still not in October and less than 10 games into the season. There should be no reason to Quick feel tired now. Especially with two days off. If he needs rest now, then he's clearly not in shape to be a #1 goalie in NHL. And I have hard time believing that would be the case.
