I wouldn't take it too lightly. It is complicated there. If you have to rely on Montoya for starts, this is terrible news IMO.
Goldman writes about Montoya being a rhythm goalie. He didn't play particularly well in his last start after sitting. Now he's in the press box waiting.
Would it really shock anyone if RD starts the next game? I wouldn't be now. I figured Montoya tonight for sure. What if Nabokov gets hot and wins a few straight...then RD gets a turn and he has a good game and plays again...I could go on. Point is, I haven't a clue what to expect as far as Montoya starts. Maybe 4 over the next 2 weeks, maybe 1. Pretty tough.
I may be wrong but having Price and Ward has given me a little leeway so I'm taking a gamble and dropping Montoya for Markstrom. I've got Markstrom fever. I don't think anyone in my league is gonna grab Montoya any time before the situation is a little more settled.
I think he'll get injured walking to the bench to lace up his skates. Tavares will say hi to him and he'll nod his head in return and he'll then be out with a recurring neck injury.
