Looks like Malkin's out for the home opener tonight. He skated without linemates and left practice early.

Frustrating, but everything I'm reading indicates it's not related to his surgically repaired knee. I'm a Malkin owner and am cautiously optimistic.

The Penguins are such pansies.
For everyone complaining about Malkin, what about Crosby?
I'd rather have Malkin on with one knee then Crosby with a soupy brain, but maybe thats just me?

Emu, no doubt Malkin was great then, but keep in mind a year or two before that Vinnie Lecavalier had 108 points and 52 goals! Things change - including circumstances and injuries, etc.
Malkin looked great in preseason for sure, but the "second coming" of what?? He has a career high of 113 points. We're not talking about Lemieux or Jagr here. Even IF Malkin were to one day break 120, he still wouldn't be the "second coming" of anything. Let's not overvalue him. Crosby is the most dominant forward on the planet when healthy, and even he isn't capable of doing anything earth-shattering. If anyone is expecting 135 and stuff out of Malkin their dreams will be CRUSHED - it's not happening people.
Hmmm, a 100ish point forward worth a team of elite 55-60 point defensemen? That's way overboard. If someone offered me Giroux and Yandle for Malkin I'd take it and run.

It was a pun in reference to the "sixteen candles"- get it??? Lol- anyways I already said Im done arguing- take Giroux/Yandle if you like. I think its a mistake- but hey Ive been wrong before. Ive been in too many of these arguments over the years about how "so and so A" is a sure thing and "so and so B" is now a bust. Bottom line neither of us know. You simply cant say Im wrong without knowing the future and I although I think youd be nuts to do it- I cant really come out and say your wrong either because my time machine is currently still in the blue print stage.
All I can do is emphatically state that I would not do this deal today.
I think on top of underestimating Malkin- the Giroux hype on these boards is probably starting to get out of hand and I personally have a strong "gut feeling" that Yandle takes a significant step back at least for this year....
A peak inside Geno's closet...

bhahahaha that made my day at work.
I don't know if it was mentioned above, but TSN just said it IS the knee that's bothering him.
