Thanks. Yeah, I watched the game against the Flames and didn't see Malkin getting hit with a puck on the ankle so was pretty surprised to read that comment. I wonder where the Oilers' announcers are getting this from. To be honest I don't believe for a second that Malkin would miss a game due to general soreness.
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

    Just dug this up...

    http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_761076.html

EDMONTON, Alberta — Center Evgeni Malkin was not in the lineup for the Penguins tonight in Edmonton only 24 hours after he missed the majority of the third period in Calgary with an unidentified injury.

The nature of the injury — and when it occurred — remains a mystery. Malkin played only a shift on the power play in the third period against the Flames, and coach Dan Bylsma noted following the game that Malkin "just played a lot of hockey and was a little sore."

It wasn't determined until Malkin participated in the pre-game skate whether he would be able to play against the Oilers. Malkin never skated hard in the pregame skate, looking as though he were testing an injury, which the Penguins are now simply calling a "lower-body injury."

Bylsma said that other players were dealing with bumps and bruises following the Calgary contest and were questionable for the game in Edmonton. Matt Cooke, despite absorbing a powerful check from Calgary defenseman Cory Sarich the night before, was not one of the players in danger of not playing against the Oilers.
Doesn't seem like anything to worry too much about.

Oh boy, here we go again and again and again! It's just more of the same with this guy.

We're not even 3 games into the season and we already have problems with him. Man, he just cannot stay on the ice if his life depended on it. What happened to the Malkin from his first 3 years? I really miss that guy! I'm wondering if we will ever see him again.

NHL.com says that he played limited minutes in the third last game, they tried him out at practice today, but he was deemed 'unable to play'. Nothing specific other than the dread LBI.

Well, at least he skated in the pre-game warm-up so I guess it's not serious. I'll start worrying a little more if he misses the game against Florida on Tuesday.

I'm just waiting for his body to implode. I mean hell I'd even take him as a 75 point player if he'd at least throw me a couple games in a row. But I guess it's risk versus reward. Hopefully he comes back soon. I'm on pins and needles with this guy, it's like every night he plays I'm wondering if he is going to "break."

    From the Pens' official site:
“I don’t have an update for you,” Bylsma said after the game, adding that Malkin could be ready for the Penguins' home opener on Tuesday. “Just a lower-body injury. Don’t think it’s a long term (injury).”
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

If I were a Malkin owner I would be very concerned. This is out it started out last year....

Fortunately for me, Malkin was taken early in all my drafts

whats with pit and there superstar schoolgirls in miniskirts???....

i knew it.....the "croz" and malkin ALWAYS gets a pass on this site........anyone else and they are 'concussion prone' and 'bandaid boy'.....

my guess is malkin owners get burned this year (i will be one of them) and crosby gets hit in the face with wind and suffers another concussion.....

truth is...if you own malkin and/or the "croz"......you are more than likely better off trading them for MAX value and letting them be someone else's headache....

    waaaaaa my head

    waaaaa i have a bruise

The NHL is 'painful' to watch these days.....milbury and NBC know

I must admit I have been thinking about trading my Malkin for his Giroux. Am I completely out to lunch or is it time to look at something like that? I would make sure I got something else included in the deal coming back to me as well.

I turned down his Giroux + Yandle for my Malkin.
