    Default Malkin?

Didn't play second half of the 3rd period. I can't find anything about why. Anyone know the reason?
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

Coach Dan Bylsma indicated that there is nothing seriously wrong with Malkin.

"Just played a lot of hockey and was a little sore," Bylsma said. "The score dictated that we were going to keep him off the ice. Given the score and situation - we have a game tomorrow - we weren't putting him on the ice."

That statement would be a lot more believable if Malkin wasn't seemingly testing his knee during a stoppage...hoping he's fine

To be honest I heard he actually had a full leg reconstructed out of driftwood and last night the splinters were really getting to him, plus the minor chaffing. Here's hoping to a titanium upgrade for tonight.

I watched the game, and unless i'm mistaken, he was on the bench the entire time. I figured they were just resting him since they had a comfortable lead and they play again today; they also play 8 times in their first days...

Maybe it's just wishful thinking, but If I was coaching malkin... I'd be resting him too when I had opportunity to.

This confirms my original suspicion... bumps and bruises my ass:

Evgeni Malkin (undisclosed) will be a game-time decision Sunday, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
    (Updated 10/09/2011).

"It's not the surgery of the knee that's a problem," coach Dan Bylsma said of Evgeni Malkin. "Evgeni's just sore. Bumps and bruises. A lot of hockey. It's not due to the surgery of the knee." With no other games left on Sunday's docket, fantasy owners might as well leave Malkin active.

I don't know if you can definitively say it's the knee or if it really is bumps & bruises that made him miss most of the 3rd period and questionable for tonight. However, if he was good enough to play the PP yesterday, i'd make that jack@$$ play tonight. You cant pick & choose when and in what situations you're gonna play!

Furthermore, he needs to go put his purse down and go rub some ointment on whatever hurts, then get back out there. You can't be missing games with "bumps & bruises" two games into the season. Only Martin Havlat and Marian Gaborik do things like that!

Where did you read this? Took a puck off the ankle in the game against the Flames?
I can't promise I'll try but I'll try to try.

That's just what I heard from the Oilers' broadcast feed. Which is weird because I'm pretty sure he didn't take a puck off the ankle. According to a mod over at hfboards (on the PIT at EDM GDT) Malkin was on the ice for warm-ups. This is most likely just precautionary since the official reason for Gino being out is "soreness."
