Bring up Subban?

12-team H2H keeper, keep 8*.
Scoring cats G,A,+/-,PIM,PPP,SHP,FW; GS,W,GAA,SV%,SHO.
Nightly start 2C, 2LW, 2RW; 4 D; 1 Util; 2 G.

LW: Ovechkin*, Benn, Dubinsky, Mueller
C: M.Richards*, C.Giroux*, Ott, Konopka
RW: Malkin*, Briere*, Jagr
D: Yandle*, Keith*, Goligoski, Edler
G: Lundqvist*, Crawford, Rask
Farm: Seguin, Subban

My keeper d-men were Yandle and Keith. I drafted Goligoski and Edler. I have Subban on my farm and can bring him up and down anytime.

Question is: what to do with PK? If I bring him up to Active, I'd have to drop someone. If that's a forward, then I'm running with 5 d-men, not something usually done with 18-man H2H rosters like this. But if it's a d-man....can't really just release Goli or Edler, right? Any thoughts on courses of action?

I believe the obvious answer is to leave him on your farm. His totals aren't going to be a ton better than Goligoski or Edler (I don't think, anyways), so just leave him where he is.

If Subban is an obvious upgrade over those two (and I haven't done a detailed study into the likely point totals, etc, of the three), then bring him up and maybe see if you can swing a trade involving one of the other guys.

But, again, if you can leave Subban on your farm without hurting your totals..and if leaving him there keeps another GM from getting a decent blueliner (Goli, Edler) for nothing, then keeping him on the bench is the best move.

I was going to suggest trading a D to upgrade elsewhere, but your team is so ridiculously stacked hiding Subban on your farm is probably the best way to keep a leg up on your competition. Incidentally, do you have any competition? If Crawford can keep his job, you have at least 2 very solid players at each position - really well balanced. Crazy for a 12 team league.

Thanks, norris. I thought I had a really good draft to fill things in around my keepers. I used Dobber's Draft List straight up, and it paid off.

I think I'll stay the course as you both suggested, and keep PK on the farm. Sit back, see what kinds of starts he, Goli and Edler get off to.

I did receive my first trade offer for him 2 days ago. Sit down for this one: Pominville straight up for PK. Yep. Gotta laugh some days. Sent a much more reasonable counter-offer back, never heard from the guy again. And this guy's active roster d-men are Leopold, Carlson, Fowler, blank slot. Okay...
