    Owen Sound 6, Plymouth 2
Owen Sound defeated the Plymouth Whalers in the OHL's first game of the season by a score of 6-2

Buffalo prospect Daniel Catenacci had a goal and an assist in the win.

Ottawa prospect Stefan Noesen registered an assist in the loss but was -4 in the loss.

Plymouth was without Rickard Rakell (Anaheim) and JT Miller (NY Rangers) as they remain at their NHL camps

Three OHL games on the schedule tonight:
    - Niagara (w/o Strome/Hamilton) @ Peterborough
    - Guelph @ Windsor
    - Kingston @ Barrie (w/o Scheifele)

    Galchenyuk Injury Status
Word is that Alex Galchenyuk will not play in either game this weekend, Erie @ Sarnia (home opener) and Sarnia @ Windsor, but should be good to go next weekend when Brampton and Sudbury come to town.

My piece on the Sarnia Sting as they prepare for their home/season opener tonight vs. Erie Otter

    The New Hockeytown

    Notes from last night's game:
Petes 7, Niagara 1 - Without D.Hamilton, Strome, and F. Hamilton the Niagara Ice Dogs were a shadown of what they will be this season. Nick Ritchie (1st rd pick) scored in his debut

Storm 6, Spitfires 3 - Without Kohkhlachev (Bruins) and Kuhnhackl (Penguins) Windsor couldn't beat the Storm even with Kerby Rychel notching a couple of assists on Zack MacQueen's two goals. Sophmore Kosmachuk had a hat trick for the Storm in their win and he'll need to be good this year for the Storm to have a chance at playoffs.

Colts 7, Frontenacs 4 - In Aaron Ekblad's (exceptional status, 1st overall) OHL debut he didn't make the scoresheet but the Colts got the win over the lowly Fronts on five point nights from Tanner Pearson (2G, 3A) and Zach Hall (2G, 3A). Frontenacs were without Erik Gudbranson (FLA) and Ryan Spooner (BOS) and await word on whether they will play in the OHL this season.

Lots of OHL teams in action tonight:
    Erie @ Sarnia
    Barrie @ Brampton
    Owen Sound @ Guelph (7:05pm)
    Oshawa @ Kingston (7:30)
    Windsor @ Kitchener (7:30)
    Saginaw @ London (7:30)
    Belleville @ Ottawa (7:30)
    Mississauga @ Sudbury (7:35)

    Quick thoughts on tonights' games:

London Knights' rookies were great - Max Domi had 3 goals + 1assist in 8-0 win over Saginaw. Bo Horvat had 1G + 1A

Sarnia's studs were flying as both Nail Yakupov (1G, 2A) and Brett Ritchie (1G, 2A) both had three point performances.

Barrie Colts' Pearson and Behenna with another stong night in the OHL. 3 goals for Pearson all assisted by Behenna. Pearson has 8 points in 2 games to become early OHL leader. Behenna has 7 points in 2 games.

Oshawa Generals Defeated Kingston Frontenacs 5-1. 2012 Draft Eligible Scott Laughton with two apples. Going to be a long season for Kingston.

2012 Draft Eligible Matia Marcatuoni was held off the scoresheet in the Kitchener Rangers 4-3 win over the Windsor Spitfires. Jack Campbell is returning to Windsor for Sunday's game vs. Sarnia after being cut from the Dallas Stars.

    Great start to the season.

Penguins' prospect and Windsor Spitfire Tom Kuhnhackl was helped off the ice in last night's 4-3 loss after being drove into the end boards.

Length of injury will be determined later
