That is too bad. Keep an eye out for a similar situation though. Many times GM's do exactly that around this time (drop someone because they dont want to wait for IR). You shouldn't worry about burning your #12 waiver priority because in a few months, there's probably no way in hell that (1) you'd see a player like Zajac on the wire and (2) even if you did, you wouldn't be able to land that quality of a player at #12.
