First pick

I have the first pick Overall in my 5 player strictly points league.My options are.

Anze Kopitar
Nicklas Backstrom
Paul Stastny
Simon Gagne
Ryan Getzlaf
and maybe Jonathan Cheechoo.

Who should I pick? I am looking to pick the guy who gets me the most points.But I would Take a chance on Backstom if he gets at least 70 points and have a chance to get even more the year after.:evil:

I\'m very interested in this thread for two reasons:

1) I\'m trying to decide if I should keep Getzlaf over T Kaberle or Visnovski and

b) I have an early 1st round pick and I\'m not sure if anyone else in my league will pick up Backstrom in the first and was hoping he would slip to the second round as most the guys in my league don\'t pick up a player before he has even played a game in the NHL. We can only keep 8 players from year to year.

To answer your question, I\'d need to know who your other players are. If you have very good, proven guys, you can take a chance on Backstrom for this year and be able to wait until next when he will be great. Getzlaf could be really good to though so if these two guys would be better than your last two keepers, I\'d trade one of them away to the guy who has the 2nd pick and take both.

I\'d take Backstrom and then trade Gaborik away to get another first round pick. He\'s too risky in my mind b/c of his band aid boyedness.

Getzlaf or Backstrom is a tough call.

I suppose I would have to go with Getzlaf, but only because we have yet to see how NB fares in the NHL. A year from now I think I\'ll have reversed that order.

I am going to agree with the Giraffe. Getzlaf, and his line, gained a huge amount of confidence in the Stanley Cup Final series. Backstrom is going to be good but I like Getzlaf because of what he brings to the table now.

Why are you even wonderin?
Sure he got off to a poor start but look at the finish. He is gonna rack up 90 pts this season...no brainer guys.
Getzlaf is a nice player too but Cheech is way ahead of him. Kopitar could really rip it up this year as well. I think I would take him ahead of getzlaf as well if Cheech is not available. Kopitar has better line placement and linemates and PP time. The Kings are gonna have a sick PP this yr.

after him, i would pick :

Getzlaf and the others in the rank you want...
Cheechoo, Kopitar, Gagné, Statsny (They will be close at the end)
