Dubnyk vs Smith

Who would you rather own this year,in 3 years and beyond.I just drafted Smith as a gamble in our entry draft.There are 2 other teams that could use a # 1 goalie(I use that term loosely with Smith!) I drafted him for trading leverage,my other 2 goalies are Miller and Reimer,we start 2 and can keep 3 non prospects on our active roster.Cats are the same as league below in my sig.What do you see for these guys in the future,I'll need to decide by the start of the season,if Smith is good,I have a contender,but I saw a nice progression in Dubnyk last year too.I'm torn,please help

For this year, being as a trade chip or a hail mary that he does well, I'd take Smith. I grabbed him for the same reason, and read a lot about him - looks like a very good fit in Phoenix. He's bound to mess it up, but if he puts together some wins in that system, you can always sell him as "Bryzer part deux", as this is virtually the same situation that Bryzer found himself in.

Or you have yourself a lucky grab that paid off if you want to contend.

If you are purely looking at 3 years from now, DD without any quesiton.

you're gonna get a lot of that, but I tend to look at situations. Justin Goldman is a believer too, as is Dobber.

Smith is familiar with Tippett from his Dallas days, and the defensive system also plays into his hands. Not that Phoenix is great, but they did put up over 100pts last year, and DD isn't even the starter in shitty Edmonton.

Again, for this year I'd take a chance on Smith. 3 years not even a question its DD.

Yeah sorry, I dont know much about him. He's burned me in the past so I guess I got that impression of him.

Looks like he had a winning record last yr though. And hes consistently playing some games every year. Who knows I guess...

For this season alone i´d roll with Smith as well. Tippett was the reason he was brought in so he will get trust and confidence from there and thats exactly what Mike needs. in the long run sure go with Dubynk.
