While checking out some stats tonight, I ran across some interesting ones.
Cy Young candidates:
National League - Marek Svatos Col 20-3 (goals, assists)
American League - Chuck Kobasew Bos 17-8
Shooting Percentage (Qualified Leaders on Yahoo):
Mike Ribeiro .314
Marek Svatos .225
Brad Boyes .222
Jason Blake has the fourth most shots on goal with 207. Here\'s the goal totals of the top shots on goal players:
36, 28, 32, 9, 23, 37, 25, 29, 21
Can anyone spot Blake\'s goal totals? If you guessed 9, you\'re right.
You want clutch? Six of Jeremy Roenick\'s nine goals have been game winners!
Conversely, only one of Olli Jokinen\'s 23 goals have been game winners. I guess it pays to be on a winning club?!
Why does Yahoo still have a column for Game Tying Goals?
Nicklas Lidstrom is gold in leagues that count plus/minus. His +37 leads the league. The injured Dany Heatley is next with +31 followed by Pavel Datsyuk at +28.
Bad Brad Richards owns the leagues worst minus at -23, followed by Patrick Marleau\'s -20 and the injured Nylander\'s -19.
One of these two guys is going to win the trophy no hockey player wants to win; the Lady Byng. Pavel Datsyuk has recorded only 6 penalty minutes. Probably more impressive is the fact that Brian Campbell has only 6 minutes as a defenseman.
I\'ll leave you with a word of advice. I know I don\'t cover the Western Conference, but I own this guy in one of my pools. Since the new year, Chris Mason has a 3-1-1 record, with 2 shutouts. His GAA is a gaudy 0.99 and he has a save percentage of 0.957. The fact that Nashville hasn\'t allowed more than 29 shots in those 5 January games is what\'s making the difference. I\'d try to get him now, those are the types of numbers we were hoping to see this season.

especially the part about mason. i\'d realized that he\'d been playing better and he tossed a couple of shutouts, but i didn\'t realize his numbers were THAT good!

Blake slipped to 5th in the SOG department with 332. Goal totals of the top 10:

Wow 6 goals in 125 SOG since comish\'s post... that a SH% under .05 ... pathetic.
JR continued to be clutch potting home 14 G this year, 10 of which were GWG!! Next closest in GWG with less than 20 G\'s was W.Wolski 6 GWG on 18 G\'s this year.
Other end... Pominville and Tkachuk 27 G\'s this year only 1 GWG each... ouch. Jokinen rose up to the challenge to finish with 5 GWG on 32 G\'s this year. Honorable mention I.Kovalchuk 52 G\'s... only 4 GWG.
Only 6 players made it to +30 this year (down from 11 last year):

As if D.Keith tied Zetts in this category...wtf?
