Default Keeper: Carlson, Ehrhoff or Berglund.

Coming off a championship winning year I'll soon have to declare my keepers for the coming season.

My current keeper selections are these:

    C: Matt Duchene, Logan Couture
LW: Evander Kane, James Neal, Henrik Zetterberg
RW: Jerome Iginla, Claude Giroux, Chris Stewart
    D: Zdeno Chara
    G: Henrik Lundqvist, Jonas Hiller

That leaves me room to protect one more player out of the ones named in the topic. Categories are: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG, HITS, FOW for skaters. We start 3 C, 3 RW, 3 LW, 5 D, 1 UTILITY and 2 goalies.

Initially I had my mind set on keeping Ehrhoff, but I've been second guessing my choice throughout the summer. Carlson's +/- helped me tremendously last season as I was dominant in that category throughout the season, but obviously Ehrhoff should provide superior points this year. Case could be made for Berglund aswell as that utility spot almost has to be filled with a C in order to stay competitive in FOW:s, even though my team is in great shape in that regard with Zetts and Giroux providing FOW:s from winger positions.

    Any thoughts?

Should be noted also that this league is on ESPN where they never remove the original position the player got when he was first added to the site. They may add a dual position, but the original one stays as it is. Thus I don't ever have to worry about Zetts or Giroux losing winger status.

To me it's Ehrhoff vs Carlson. Ehrhoff is the choice short term but I think I would take Carlson here. He has a much greater long term upside than Ehrhoff and I think you have enough quality players in your roster to offset the drop off in pts in the short term.

IMO were only talking about 10 pts. Ehrhoff should get 45 pts. Carlson 35 pts.

I would keep Carlson here too. He will out score Ehrhoff this year and every year after.

Can you show us your full roster? I'd like to see the full story before answering.

In addition to the players mentioned above I also have:

    Steve Downie
    Kevin Bieksa
    Andrej Meszaros
    Andy McDonald
    Justin Williams
    Sergei Bobrovsky
    Corey Schneider

Part of the team also were: Pominville, Luongo and Shattenkirk among others but they've been traded or dropped since. Luongo and Shattenkirk were dealt in a deal for Lundqvist. Pominville was dealt as a piece for Iginla.

I would keep Carlson - I think he out stats Erhoff head to head 4 out of the next 5 years.

Although I really like Berglund especially given the Utility spot which makes for a great additional C.

I have Carlson and would not trade him for either Erhoff or Berglund, to much upside.

Agreed, I would be in the same boat if I owned Carlson. Go with him.

I'd actually keep Ehrhoff. You are a competing team and Ehrhoff will outproduce Carlson for a couple of more years, probably.

I like Berglund, but you need more D so for me it's one of Carlson or Ehrhoff.

I'd probably lean towards Carlson here, since players going to new teams sometimes make me nervous.
