I love The Outsider, The Noose, Passive, 3 Libras... Such good songs. I think they're vastly underrated but at the same time it takes a band a long time to pay their dues in order to separate themselves from all the other garbage rock out there.

Judith, The Noose, and 3 Libras are prob may favs from APC. Interestingly, MJK decided to do 10,000 Days (pt II - Wings) with Tool, yet Judith, also a song about his mother, he did w/ APC.

Different times of different inspiration, I would say. MJK will never stop writing about his relationship with his mother.
I think the reason I like Tool over other heavier bands is because Maynard writes about some deep, philosophical ideas without trying to be too "hard". I can't stand bands that write music with the expectation that they be seen as badasses.

Yeah not only that but the musicians w/ whom he performs are all very highly skilled with their respective instruments. Also, they do not waste any notes for the purpose of grandiosity.....gilding the lily, to borrow a phrase.
