Hey guys, I hope this doesn't cause a stir with the guys at HPG or Dobber.

Was trying to figure out a way to use the HPG referral system to everyones benefit.

Here's what I came up with.. a referral chain.

If you haven't already renewed or subscribed, simply go to http://www.hockeypoolgeek.com and get your subscription. *BEFORE you subscribe, please add the email of the poster above you as a referrer and that person will receive a $5 referral bonus (basically $5 off your subscription).

Once you've subscribed, put a reply in this thread with your email address for the next subscriber in the chain.

*REMEMBER - use the email in the last reply in the thread.

kind of a dick move, imo. these guys have made helping us their job and are trying to get paid for it.

Gotta be honest, I agree with ultrawhiteness.

jer I know your intentions were not cruel but think it through.

The guys at HPG work hard and are cool enough to offer a discount for referring others, and this would essentially be taking advantage of the system. I wouldn't be surprised nor would I blame them if they just removed their referral system after seeing this.

Not to say that you're a jerk if you use the referral system, that's what its there for...but something like this is just wrong IMO.

The purpose of the referral system is to provide incentives for spreading the word about HPG and therefore create a larger customer base. This simply lowers their profit margin while not expanding their customer base.

Don't think you meant any harm, and I get it, saving money is great. But it's $5 and these guys put out a great product and give a lot for this community, so show a bit of support.

I don't really see any harm by it. I am sure HPG will get more members (and also more $$$) in the end if a thread like this was started.

It's a referral none the less and thats why the promotion is there.

Sorry guys, like I said in my post - I wasn't trying to rile up anyone on the site.

I'm not telling people to only send referrals to me, and I'm certainly not trying to cheat HPG.

Fact is, they offer a $5 referral fee. Whether you choose to use it or not is up to you.

I'll send an email/PM to the "geeks" and see if they find this offensive or not.

Again, I thought this type of idea would be a nice win/win for both the users/owners.

I still think that HPG would come out making more $$ if this referral idea took off. Trust me, they would get more members for sure.

$15 is a lot more attractive than $20.
