Canucks' Ryan Kesler had hip surgery. He'll be out 10 to 12 weeks, meaning he'll miss training camp and the start of the season.

Wow - thanks for the update.
You are very welcome. It was retweeted by a bunch of reliable sources so it's legit. Maybe that means we can get a chance at him falling in this year's draft.

not sure why he waited this long after the season ended. if he had done it last month he'd miss no/very little time?

Apparently the surgery was done last Monday and it's looking more like the 10 week mark.

He was sure fun to watch in the playoffs.
How long was kesler playing with the hip issue? Man, I can't believe he played with that throughout the playoffs. Hockey players sure are tough, I like how Basketball players won't play when they have a sore pinkie lol
Hoping for a speedy recovery.
"We've had a couple shakers in this place. This year we haven't had the time. We had a couple good ones last year, right?" - Phil Kessel
He injured it against the Sharks (I'm pretty sure it was game 2 or 3)... in hindsight I wish they had rested him more in that series as he wasn't himself at all in the finals.
Personally I hope they give Hodgson a dozen games as the 2nd line center to show what he can do... or just stop screwing around and tell him to play wing (also on the 2nd line)... unless of course he is part of the package that repatriates Weber to BC.
Ditto on the hoping for a speedy recovery (he does everything else fast right?)
I'm pretty sure it was game 5. I remember cuz I was there and I saw Kesler come up lame and while I was watching him hobble down the tunnel SJ scored. It was on the PK. He was never the same after that.
Goalies: If I'm pickin em you best be sittin em!
Anyone know what kind of recovery is expected after the healing? Is it like a knee injury where it could take a season to feel the same. I was hoping to grab him with one of my two 1st round picks in the redraft, but maybe I'd be better off passing on him.

I know he is hoping to be ready for the opener, but I find it highly doubtful. I can only hope.
After all, Hodgson will probably hit him with his car in the parking lot to get his shot at the 2nd line.
