    Default E.Staal for Semin offer

I've been offered Semin and Vanek for my E.Staal and a 1st round pick next year. Just curious if it's worth given up Staal and a potentially high pick next year for 2 higher priced wingers this year?

Team in sig. Salary Cap league.
30 team, 23 man roster-3c,3rw,3lw,3Util,6D,2G, 3 reserve spots. Pts only, goalies: 2pts W, 3 pts SO, Current NHL cap.
    Limited Keeper: (7) forwards, (3) defensemen, (2) utility skater (either a F or D) and (1) goaltender.

    C-Crosby(8.7), Stamkos(7.5),Koivu, Kadri
    LW-Krieder, O'Reilly, Vanek, Morin
    RW-Ovechkin, Brown,JT, Dwyer, McGinn
D- Olsen,Folin, Lindholm, Prosser, Sustr, Marincin

I would stick with Staal and the pick. Semin is inconsistent and injury prone, plus a KHL threat, Vanek is solid but IMO you should stick with what you have.

i would stick with staal but espcially with it being a salary cap league. vanek and semin are pretty pricey not to mention extremley injury prone. staal is prob top 10-15 in the league dependin on the cats. stick with the stud and hopefully u could get a high pick in the next years draft

Not so fast here - what does that guy have for goalies? While you have him on the phone maybe there is some potential to massage his side of the deal - it isn't such a bad deal in this league.

He has Niemi and Varlamov in goal.

He has also changed the trade to:
Staal and a 1st round pick in 2012
    For
Semin, Jeffrey, N.thompson and 2x 2nd round picks next year.

I told him I'm not interested in Thompson and he might be willing to switch to Mcdonaugh.

I don't know if he's keen on moving a goalie.

    Thanks for the help shoeless!

I agree with everyone, no reason to trade a 2012 first and Eric Staal for Semin and Vanek. Semin no doubt has a ton of skill and talent but he's very much like Alex Kovalev, there are just too many games where he just doesn't try or give any effort. When he does decide its time to put in a full effort, he's virtually unstoppable with everything he can do. That said, Staal could flirt with the 90 point mark this year if all goes well.

If you had a chance to win I would have done the first deal. Too bad it's points only but this new deal is horrible. He is asking for the same thing but he downgraded from vanek to pieces. Bad change pass

That what told him. He doesn't want to trade 2 forwards or a goalie. He has Subban and Pietrangelo on D, so I asked about Subban instead. Think that is closer?

Subban is gold in a salary cap league, problem is he's overvalued in a points only league without PIMs and SOG.

If he offered Semin and Subban for Staal, I'd bite.

    So the offer is now:
Semin, J.Williams, Jeffrey and 2x2nd round picks for
Staal and a 1st round pick.

I think this is getting closer, but it really depends on both Semin and Williams being healthy this season.

    No way

Semin, subban and a pick for Staal and a better pick but no less

Semin has way too much risk

Also, does this have keeper implications? Who are you dumping to keep all that junk? Dude's trying to bend you over....

I think the latest offer is actually a step down from the first one with Vanek. I would walk away from this one personally.

Thanks for the opinions. That's what I was thinking also.

Semin and Williams are tempting because of the pts that they can potentially put up if they stay healthy.

The other GM is unwilling to budge on the other players(Vanek, Subban) so I'm just going to politely decline.

    Thanks again guys!
