While I can agree that many of the above stated trades are bad, I unfortunately think I can top all of them. Keep in mind, my keeper league consists of 4C, 4L, 4R, 6D, and 2G. We have a salary cap of $80.00 and can protect at most 15 players for next season. It was our trade deadline meeting, early February of 2006, and my team was in need of a shake up...I traded Brad Richards and Marian Gaborik, for Vaclav Prospal, Doug Weight, and J.S. Giguere. I should mention that Weight was a high salary, and Gaborik was very cheap...Giguere has been the only thing I can hang my hat on.

    15 Team Keeper League - 20 roster spots (4C 4L 4R 6D 2G)
    Point Categories - G A +/- PIMS GAA SV%
    Protect 13-15 *$80 Team cap

    C - Bergeron, Zibanejad,
    L - Connor, Marchand, Olofsson
R - Nylander, Wheeler, Gallagher, Rust
    D - Carlson, Josi, Nurse
    G - Vasilevskiy

After swearing off ever doing a deal that I felt so ill over, ever again, I believe I made an even worse deal this past season. I had Giguere, and Luongo as my goaltending tandem, but needed to make room for Lehtonen, who was coming off my development roster to start the \'07-\'08 season. I had few takers for Giguere, and the return was terrible, so I moved Luongo, Prospal, and Weight, for Nagy and Getzlaf. I love Getzlaf, but Nagy was a terrible dissapointment, and I don\'t know what to expect from him going forward. Luongo...well nuff said.

I\'m in a first year keeper league and before the season even started I traded Zetterberg for Hejduk and Rob Schremp. I remember thinking at the time that I needed help at RW and I guess my Magic 8-ball said \"all signs point to yes\" that this was a good deal.

Early in the season I decided to swap Lundqvist in exchange for Cam Ward...my gut was was having a hard time with the deal at the time....I shouldn\'t have pulled the trigger. It isn\'t totally lopsided, I know. But still..I\'m choked I made that deal.

Last year I traded Iginla and Brind\'AMour for Hossa. I had kovalchuk and thought adding hossa would be amazing,b ut iginla got 94 points with 12 missed games and rod the bod was sick...

another bad trade: OVechkin and Semin and i got back Brind\'Amour and Staal. I had soo many LW\'s i tried to stock up on Centers and such. I really got burned on this one.

that\'s probably a little early I would think. You should start a new thread with that question, so everyone can check in with their two cents...

I don\'t think you got robbed on the Hossa deal at all. Yeah it sucks that Iggy and Brind\'amour had such good years but Hossa didn\'t have a bad year either. I don\'t know if there is anyone out there who predicted that Brind\'amour was going to have the year he did.

I think you came out just fine in this deal and a couple of years from now I think you\'ll agree.

I\'ll tell you my worst trade as long as I m not banned from using the site. This was a couple years ago and I felt I was one strong d-man away from the championship (after coming in second 3 years in a row). So I traded a young prospect for D Morris (when he was with the Senators). Problem was the young player was Spezza. Yes...worst trade ever.

My worst trade was Semin for Eminger + Hunter when Semin was in Russia pouting.

    Still makes my stomach turn.

last year was a banner year for me making bad trades.

    1. traded briere and heatley for kariya, hemsky, Marleau and pominville

    2. Paul Stastny for Sean Avery - desperately needed pims and thought I has a chance at a title

    3. Ryan Miller, Milan Michalek and wolski for Maxim Afinogenov, Ruslan Fedotenko and Cam Ward

Near the start of the 05-06 season I traded Ryan Whitney, Timonen and Semin for Vanek and Redden.

At the time Semin was in Russia and Whitney was a solid prospect, but hadn\'t played in the NHL yet. Vanek was poised to be a superstar and Redden was having a break-out season.

I am still happy to have had Vanek, but last year Whitney outscored Redden, Timonen had a career year and Semin arrived in the NHL.

Jonathan Toews and 2 first round picks. One pick was Patrick Kane and the other one is the first overall pick next year!!! (Come on John Tavares one year early)

Are you kidding me? I think that was a great trade for you. You gave up two 90-100 point players for Kariya (70-80), Hemsky (60-70 or 80-90 with a sniper), Marleau (85-95) and Pominville (55-65). I think you easily came out on top on this one.

Mine was minor all-in-all, but it was a classic example of my homer and eternal home team optimism taking over. Right at the end of the 05/06 season, (b/f the Entry draft and FA) I got it in my mind that Pittsburgh was going to use K. Koltsov on a line with Malkin in order to smooth over his transition with the language and all. I also thought there was no way in hell that C. Kunitz was going to remain on Selanne\'s line another year, especially with the young guys they had ready to get some time. Anyway:

    To Pittsburgh:
    K. Koltsov (Pit - LW)
    NYR 2006 6th round pick

    To New York:
    C. Kunitz (Anh - LW)
    Pit 2006 3rd round pick

I actually dropped three rounds in the draft in order to get a guy that didn\'t sniff the NHL (and probably won\'t ever again) while losing a guy that put up 60pts, was +23 and added 81pms!! AH!! Someone call 911, I think I just siezed!!

I also traded for Palffy 2 years ago less than one week b/f his out-of-the-blue retirement. That really stunk, but I did still get M. Michalek and R. Klesla for C. Ward, T. Arnason and M. Bell. Lost it due to Ward, but coulda been worse.

yeah i thought it was a good idea at the time yet i still finished 7th in the pool. Granted its given me a lot to deal this off-season, but at the same time no one seems to be biting.
