As far as forecasting points over 14 years, that's actually a pretty simple exercise. At the end of August each year I buy several cartons of cheap printer paper and I dedicate 14 sheets of paper to each of the roughly 800-1000 players I think are worthwhile - I write their name on each of the 14 pages and the year in the future I am forecasting. So, 1 page will have Lupul 2015-16 as an example. Then to each page I attach a GPS signaling device which has the information from that page encoded in it's signal.
I wait for a sunny but windy day and I go to the top of my apartment building with the 11,000 to 14, 000 pages and throw them off the building. I immediately run down to my apartment and turn on the mapping software and GPS data receiver so that I can automatically map the precise location that each paper landed.
Once I have the paper locations mapped, it is a fairly simple exercise to run a unique program I designed that assigns goals and assists to each player for each year. This program combines the distance and the direction the paper flew to calculate the associated production values. Same system Dobber uses - it's pretty slick.
So I don't really have to watch hockey games to get information for my projections.
11,000 to 14,000 gps signaling devices adds up to quite a bit of mulah. Are you sure you're not Donald Trump?
